I was diagnosed with UC approx. 20 years ago. I have been on and off prednisone throughout my life, hospitalized a few times and now for the first time in 20 years I can not seem to fall into remission. I lost about 15 lbs trying to minimize the pains and trips to the bathroom. The doctor has me on 30 mg. prednisone, along with Lialda, Zegerid and now he wants me to start Humira, 160mg at first, then 80, then 40 and stay on 40mg. I guess I'm just hoping it works and the madness stops. It's hard to work, shop, cook, it's even hard to just go out with the kids. I've heard good things about Humira and hope to wean off the prednisone very soon, once I start. Which will hopefully be next week.

Hello. I have Crohn's disease and have been on Humira for about 2 years now. It has helped me tremendously. I take 40 mg every week. At first, I was a little freaked by having to give myself injections. However, feeling better for me was worth it. I noticed a difference in about 2 weeks. I honestly can't say how long it took for me to go into remission, but I do know that I was feeling MUCH better within a reasonable amount of time.

hey msomers
I have been on Humira since 2009, what 3 years now! WOW...my life is so much BETTER, get off the predisone! OMG, I have arthritis in my hips because of it, IT IS NOT a medication but A QUICK FIX in the world of medicine! they give that crap to everyone! asthma, arthritis, and like hives! anything...I have had the luxury of the epi-pen way better than the needle, but let me tell you, I came off my Humira and all hell broke loose...pun intended too! Only severe cases get it From understanding since it costs 24 -28k a year $$$$$$$ ...so the insurance companies don't like the costs! You get a loading dose then I take 40mg twice a month, no biggie! DO IT! Just my opinions! I hate PREDISONE! and refuse to let them give it to me! Help me, don't MASK my sickness! G luck!

Hi and welcome to the forum! :D

Humira has helped many people so hopefully you do well on it too. Can't really treat Crohn's by going off and on steroids. Those only help get rid of current inflammation but can't stop it.

Greetings and welcome :)

I don't have anything else to add but wanted to chime in and welcome you and let you know we're here for you. I pray that the Humira does the trick for you and you're in remission soon.

I wish you well.
