Why won't the pain just leave me alone!!

I know this may seem silly, but I want to know why this pain just won't leave me the hell alone!! I've really been just trying to deal with it as best as I can, but sometimes it just hurts so bad I wanna cry. I have oxycodone for when it gets really bad. I try not to use it if I don't have too, but sometimes its just so bad. It feels like something inside me is trying to split me in half. I want it to stop so bad.

Sorry for the venting. I just need to get it out.

You probably need to take the percocets as prescribed and if that isn't working talk to your doctor about other options. Including pain patches.

Good luck I'm sorry you are hurting.

I don't really get this so cannot fully understand what it's like but it must be just awful! I hope you can find a solution and be more comfortable soon :)

Even though my colon is a mess I don't feel particularly bad except for the insane pain. It often hurts so bad that I makes me nauseous and faint. Now I have Percocets and those go a long way to help until I can get my health in order.

If I could I would gladly accept all of the pain that everyone on here feels. Mainly all the young people. I've been blessed with a good 52 yrs even with having CD. Sometimes I wish I could do what the big guy in The Green Mile was able to do. I hate knowing all you guys are in pain.

I wish I could have that same effect for people too. Especially the little ones. I'm bigger and can deal with it much better than they can.

Pirate you are a very good person. I don't doubt you would take it all. Some people are just good in heart and have the healer in them breaking to get out. I bet you are one of those great people. Thank you.

Mike - do you know if you have a stricture somewhere? I'm concerned that is what is causing so much of your pain, but I can't remember you saying you have one. I'm sorry buddy!! I'm lucky and I don't get really bad pain anymore since on Remicade - but I do remember what it feels like. Makes you want to grind your teeth down to nubs sometimes. Have you tried putting heat on the area that feels bad? There was a post about that somewhere that my twin put info on why that works so well. I'll try and look it up for ya!

Well...I forgot that all of her posts and my posts were deleted at one point buddy. Too bad because she put a really good post on there (she is a physical terrorist...oops, I mean physical therapist - so she knows quite a bit about that stuff). Anyway - read through and maybe you will find some good info here - just know that some posts are missing from the thread so it may sound disjointed. I *think* this was the thread I was looking for ....

Thank you. Peaches, I have been unknowingly causing extra heat when the pains come. Hugging a pillow, adding more clothes/ blankets. Thankfully the pain has slowed for now. I did use my Oxycodone and Vicodin today though. I think I will stop trying to "man up" with this pain. It doesn't help to sit here in pain. I'm not sure about the stricture though. I do not remember hearing anything about that from my last GI. My poo though looks to be narrowing. Maybe that could be the cause?

I appreciate everyone whos responded to this thread. Sorry that its a vent thread but it helps to know you guys are here for me. Thank you so much for your words and thoughts.

Never ever apologise for venting Mike! Its a good way to let off steam and help cope. I feel a bit better with starting my last vent thread! No richer, but better :)

I do feel better that I got it out. Sometimes I just want to yell it out. Too bad my computer doesn't have speech to text.

Yeah. I think what it is, is the morning and afternoon I hurt so bad. I may subconsciously causing my own insomnia. My way of dealing with the hard pains I guess. Around 6:30- 7 am or so, it'll start to hurt, I'll go lay down. Tonight/ this morning I had so much energy with very little pains. I did get a lot done at least.

Hi Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the forums, it is nice to meet you. I had/have some real challenges with abdominal pain as well. I have found that heat can be a real big help at times with the pain and a real hot shower with the heat hitting your belly can buy you some relief from the pain. I really empathize with you and hope you are able to get relief soon. I had more luck with antispasm drugs to cut down on my pain, i was eating vicodin, percs, and one other painkiller (not all at once) like candy with little impact on the actual pain area. You may want to check with your GI to see if this can give you some relief. I remember very clearly just how bad the pain can be,for me it was the worst i have felt in my life. I hope that you are pain free enough to enjoy your holiday and that you are on the road to recovery real soon.:)

Thanks Jerman. Unfortunately I don't have a GI as this point. I just moved back in with my parents. Moved from Washington state to Maryland. So no more Gi at this point, or insurance. Currently I just got approved for some state assistance. They will help with a family dr and meds. No specialists or anything. We'll see what is going to happen. My new dr may be able to help me see a GI. I sure hope so. We'll see though. I do take showers now to help ease the pains. I'm sorry you have to deal with the pain too. I'm sorry for everyone having to deal with the pain.

Not sure where in MD you are, but I moved from Northern VA about 3 years ago and had a pretty good GI. PM me and I will give you the name. It might be a drive for you but I figure it cant hurt

I know how you feel. :( I get the same way with pain killers too. I always think that I can just get through it and wait until I can't take it anymore.
It's just better to take them and feel a little better than lay around in agony.

Mike, I don't know if it is the same where you are but here in Mass, you cannot be refused medical care at an ER. They don't always know what to do with people with our conditions, but may be able to offer something for the pain or a GP. I have run up thousands of dollars in bills and don't really care because the relief is worth it. Good luck Mike.

Hey Mike,
Just saw this thread. Sorry you're in so much pain. I agree with others...if you're in pain go to the ER.

Hey Mike,
Sorry to hear that you're having so much pain. Waiting until the pain is unbearable is a common thing for people to do when in pain, but it is also one of the worst thing you can do.
In nursing school they taught us that pain has a snowball effect, and the worse it gets, the harder it is to get it under control. They suggest taking an analgesic once the pain gets around a 5/10, otherwise they are not as effective at relieving the pain. Hope that helps....

Also, i find that filling up my tub with warm water, and laying face first, with my stomach just barely touching, kind of floating there with my arms supporting me, is the best thing i have found for the pain. It's almost like that position makes everything weightless, and the warmth helps relieve it somewhat.

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear you're having such trouble with pain. It's good to vent it out and get it off your chest a bit, and of all places, at least here we all understand. Only someone else who has experienced such pain can understand. Hopefully you can get it under control and it's not something serious. (that kind of sounds odd, but I think you get what I mean. :) )

I know what you mean. I wish no one would know what the pain was like. As I'm sure we all do.

Thanks for being there.
