• Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. Your journey to finding out it was ibd

I'm curious if anyone was treated for crohns without a
Positive confirmation from scope. Colon or
Otherwise. My dr is convinced I have crohns in
My small intestine. But we haven't been able to
Get a positive sample. Inflammation in my stomach
Durning scope. Had a partial obstruction
With wall thicking in the ileum. Then she did a
More extensive ct scan and there was changes in some loop
Thing. I can't remember exactly what she said. But she told
Me its classic crohns red flag areas. And in a perfect world
We would have the samples. But not always right away. I had good
Result with the steriods. But now that I'm tapering down
I noticed more symptoms. And I'm not sure if pentasa takes awhile to
Work or not. If it doesn't work she said we'll move on to
Something a little more aggressive. I think I just need a little reassurance

No problem, I just wasn't sure what you meant. My biopsies came back showing only mild changes, definitely not positive for Crohn's. However, due to the skip lesions seen during a scope, the presence of a fistula, and some inflammation seen on a pillcam, the GI determined I have Crohn's.

I haven't used Pentasa, but I have used another mesalamine (Lialda), and I noticed some improvement within a day or two. Because of the fistula, my GI has decided to try stronger meds. I don't know if that helps, but that was my experience.
