It's been awhile since I've given an update. Lots of things have been happening here.

A previous dentist has been wanting to do a procedure on one of my husband's front teeth. We've been putting it off because we're afraid that if they do that he might loose that tooth. Well...time has come. This new dentist of ours has told us that the problem tooth now has puss coming from it and it needs to come out. Once it comes out then they're going to put an implant in it's place. The whole thing will be costing us around $5000 which is more than all my GI stuff has cost me in a year!!! We've put it off till after January though so we can use the flex card.

I'm still stuck doing my same job even after applying for other positions. My manager kicked me off my 3 days off so my routine is working 5 days a week. Problem there is that the amount of hours she gives me is the amount that could easily be given in 4 days and still be able to keep my medical insurance. I'm to talk to her soon to see if we can get me off the register either for a few hours a day or a few days a week. If not, I can go to my store director again about it and complain.

One of my aunt's husbands has been told there's nothing more that can be done for him. Apparently the valve to his heart is leaking and eventually it will kill him. But, we don't have any idea when that will be. Tomorrow we're supposed to meet with them along with my parents and my 85 year old grandpa and his new bride to be. We're not sure how to prepare, I need to text my mom today to see if there's anything I need to bring.

Needless to say. It's just been a little stressful here. Thankfully my stomach hasn't been acting up too bad so far with all this action. But, I have been exhausted constantly. Hope this finds your lives more calm than mine!

Hi hun. Well what a time of it you have had /having. So lots of love hugs n support coming your way . Glad your holding up well. 💐 💕💋

You have so much going on. I'm so sorry things are stressful. Just wanted to send hugs your way!

Big hugs, Cross-stitch! I can't believe they still haven't transferred you out of that department, I hope you can get into a better working situation soon. Good luck with your grandpa and family tomorrow! How are your chickens doing, did you ever catch that darn raccoon?

I got told of the perfect position that I've been waiting for last night. But, when I went to apply for it found out that someone had already been hired yesterday. I was pretty upset. But, I'm sure my store director got to see how drained I am. Which would be a good thing.

No, we never did catch that raccoon. We're wondering if someone may have already caught it for us. Thankfully no more opossums either. But, I believe we've been feeding the neighborhood cats because that cat food has been eaten. But, the trap hasn't been triggered. The girls are all doing fine and Lucy (the one who almost got taken away by the raccoon and was hurt bad) is doing fine and looks like she's almost healed!!!

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm sure I'll have a few stories to tell after today.

Aw no aint that typical 😐 i hope something as good or better comes along soon hun 💖💋
Hope that racoon minds it own business n stays away.!!

It was quite an adventure (to say the least). Grandpa and Lois got lost on the way to my folks so my dad and I went to rescue them and bring them back to my parents house. On the way back my grandpa got in a car accident less than a mile away from the house and had to stop. I believe it took about a half hour maybe with exchanging info and all.

Once we got to the house pretty much the whole visit was talking about the accident and trying to get the info out of grandpa so he could get it sent into insurance, dmv and all. This was between having dinner outside the house using 2 vehicles rather than 4. The whole evening was totally exhausting!!!! Especially when my aunt and uncle decide to control things and it got pretty loud at times.

But, I guess I can say we did have a good visit for the most part. Plus, it was nice meeting Lois!!! She may not be my new grandma, but she did pretty well with everything that went on tonight!!!

Oh blimey hun what a day . Glad everyone was ok n not hurt . Also pleased it went well on the whole. Keep well hun 💋💖

Cross-stitch, I'm glad that there was something good that came out of the evening - your grandpa's fiancee sounds like a good addition to the family. Sounds like a pretty stressful time otherwise, though. And that really sucks about the perfect job already being taken! :( At least the raccoon seems to be gone and your injured chicken survived and is healing, that's good to hear. Goodness, some eventful and stressful times for you lately! Take care of yourself!

Yeah, we too are thankful nobody was hurt!!! However, the person that caused the wreck didn't stay around too long and ran off just as dad and I pulled up. However, she did give the person my grandpa got her name and number. Even though it looked bad, it was a black vehicle which made it look worse than it was and the way the vehicle was originally made was a bit flimsy. But, she admitted that she'd been side swiped before and had tape on the side mirror on the same side that grandpa got. So, I don't know.

Yeah, we did alright. But, we were all exhausted cause my aunt and uncle cause chaos every time they either get with the family or go somewhere.

Yes, I still am a little upset about the job. But, at least I pretty much have my whole store behind me and rooting for me. Kinda funny I know so many people by name that one of the newbies were asking me how I know everyone. Oh yeah, you've been here for a long time!!!

We sure are thankful about our chicken that got hurt! Still making sure the raccoon isn't coming back. But, at least this time there's no way it can get in and hurt them!!! I'm doing my best staying healthy. Not much else I can do otherwise...

It's definitely good that nobody got hurt. My mom was just in a car wreck herself - she was riding in a friend's car, and the friend hit a deer and it totaled the car, but nobody was hurt (except maybe the deer). The car was completely wrecked but my mom and her friend walked away without a scratch, that's the important thing. So I'm glad your grandpa and his fiancee were able to come away from their accident without injury as well. Cars can be replaced, people not so much.

Ooh, that sounds scary Cat!!! However, maybe you could have saved the deer meat for later? I'm sure it was pretty tenderized after that...

Talked to my manager on Saturday about the possibility of maybe working a few hours a night or 2 days a week on the floor to break things up a bit. I was as good as told no and lied to at the same time. Plus, got talked to about not clocking out on time when I'm supposed to be dropping my register at the same time I should be clocking out. Yeah right!!! So, on and on the ball rolls...

Meanwhile, today the bathroom saw me 4 times and I had an accident here at home once. Gotta love the stress!!!!

Oh my!! Some employers should be made to have our diseaes for a while, im sure they would become enlightened . I had one in the very recent past who perhaps needed enlightenment too 😕
wishing you all the best of luck hun 💕

Cross-stitch, my mom said that the deer was nowhere to be found after the accident. So either it got flung away out of sight by the force of the car hitting it, or possibly it was still alive and able to leave the scene by itself. At any rate, there was no deer meat to be had. :( I don't eat a lot of red meat (I don't do beef nor pork), but I do at times have a little bit of venison, so I wouldn't have minded having some pre-tenderized deer meat. It's a mystery as to what happened to the deer, though!

That's awful about the stress giving you extra bathroom trips and an accident. :( I agree with Mandy, if your employer had to live with IBD for just one day, I think they'd have a whole different outlook. I'm so lucky, I have a really nice boss who understands (she doesn't have IBD but she does have health issues and is at the doctor a lot herself). I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a nice boss like that. Wish I could share my boss with you or somehow make your boss understand! Take care of yourself, hun. You know I'm always here (and on facebook too) if you need to talk.

That's weird!!! Too bad there was no free deer meat for you though!!!

I'm sure if my boss had IBD for a day, we'd all hear her wining. Probably give us all a headache even more than she gives us now. Either that or she'd take more sick days then than she already does now.

Quite conveniently, she scheduled herself off the last two days (sunday and monday). My store director (Scott) is also on a week vacation (so she's running wild). Yesterday my new assistant manager (2nd) showed up for her first day and was in charge. Also, all the big wigs came and toured the store. Usually when they come it's announced and all the hustle and bustle of cleaning happens before hand. But, it was quite interesting that they showed up unannounced, no Linda and no Scott.

Plus, my new 2nd was asking the other girls when I was going to be there. I've never had a new manager ask about me by name before I get there!!!! Makes me wonder what's going to happen next...

Thanks Cat! I know 2 ways to get to you if need be and am very thankful for that!!! :)

On facebook though, I am always confused when I see your husband's profile and I'm like, huh, who is that? Then I remember that you use his facebook sometimes. :p But yeah, you know how to reach me on fb or on here. :)

Is your store director a good guy at least even if your manager isn't? And that's interesting about the bigwigs showing up unannounced and when people are on vacation. Hopefully that was just a fluke and doesn't mean anything.

But, that's the fun of it. To confuse you guys!!!!

Yeah, he really is a good guy even though sometimes he tries to act tough. Unfortunately though, I had to twist him (so to speak) in order to get the ball running on my manager.

That's good that the store director is aware of what's been going on between you and your manager. Hopefully that will be a positive influence on your being able to get into a better department or have better hours or whatever. I'm guessing though with Black Friday and the holidays coming, working in any form of retail setting is going to be just plain stressful? My husband works in retail too (in a costume shop) and I know this is a stressful time of year for him too.

Well...I met my new 2nd yesterday and unfortunately she didn't introduce herself at all. My so called introduction was her demanding that I give up my 3rd day off the week of Thanksgiving. My husband says that it smells like Linda written all over since the 2 of them were together before I got there.

Apparently one of the ladies from my department fell and broke 6 of her ribs and will be out for 2 weeks. So, they're frantically trying to replace her shifts. Of course I also found this out from another employee and not my management. While I am a bit concerned for my fellow employee, I would have appreciated at least a little more respect rather than the way it was done. Especially when my register was that busy on a Saturday in November and the 2nd was practically tapping her foot rather than trying to help me with my customers!!!

By the way, on Friday I found a job on the job board at work and applied for it. It would be working at a different store within the company and I would be in the floral area of the food department. So, I'd then be in a union store and at the same time would be getting more pay. Fingers crossed that I get this job!!!!!

Oh my x stitch. Management are hopeless most of the time
They could not
manage their way out of a paper bag, with a map in hand...
Very best of luck with the new application hun 💐💕

Good luck, Cross-stitch! My hubby worked in a flower shop when we were in college and he always smelled so good when he got home. :p Working with flowers just seems like a calming thing, too. Like, I imagine it'd be hard to get stressed out when you're around flowers all the time. And being in the union should be good as well, right? I really hope you get this job! Keep us posted! Got my fingers crossed for you!

So, I sent a faxed application for that floral position on 11/13. But, never got a response and finally called the store and talked to the manager of the department today. Come to find out, my application only hit his desk a few days ago and as far as he knew there were only 2 people who applied so he hired one of them. Funny thing is that I kept the fax paperwork so I have proof that I sent the application on the 13th.

Strange thing is that when I called last week I had found out that the HR had been moved and there was a new one at the store I applied at. Something is fishy because every time I seem to apply, something seems to happen to my applications. Looks like it's time to have a talk with my store director.

Haven't talked with my director yet. But, I found another floral position at another store that I applied for. This time, I turned it into the department manager and am letting him give it to HR so this time it won't get lost. Plus, I think he'll remember me since I'm a 15 year employee and he wasn't hired till 2010. I think he seemed interested in me. We'll see what happens...

Still no word on the floral position I applied for in November. Apparently they didn't get enough applications internally so they re-posted it externally. So, I'm still waiting for an interview. But, the HR knows this time my application is in there...

Also, my yearly review is coming up at work. Lots of stress there, because my manager did the manager's part ahead of time my 2nd can't do it herself. But, most likely my 2nd will be doing the verbal part of it. I've included a letter of the past year's happenings and what she can do to fix the situation. But, this time I'm sure it's going higher up which is stressing me.

Oh hun they sound like a right shower of people. Try not to stress tho and keep remembering that whatever happens your health comes 1st n all that is just work .work is important but not as much as you are. Take care n best wishes for all to be resolved soon . Hugs 💕💕

Fingers x'd for you.I know it's v.important to you, but don't stress out.

Take deep breathes and smile, and tell yourself the world won't end if you're unsuccessful. If anyone deserves it though, you do.:medal1::ghug:

ALL THE VERY BEST xstitch. Im sure you will do well. Crossing fingers for you hun. Go knock them out girl

I just saw this now! How'd the interview go?? I hope you get the job, it's very promising that you got the interview! Good luck and keep us posted!

Yup. Yesterday was my interview. It was quite interesting to say the least. Lasted about 1/2 an hour. They weren't prepared for me to show up early and didn't pull me into the HR's office till about 5 after 3. Reason being, the food manager was on his lunch.

They asked me a whole bunch of questions, most of them I had difficulty answering. Wouldn't have been so funny, but a few times just after they'd ask a question and I was about to attempt an answer someone would knock on the door wanting to talk to the HR or Manager. If I remember right, once I asked if that could be my answer!!! Then gave the real one. They enjoyed that!!!

They asked me from 1 to 10 what I saw myself for customer service and I told them an 8. Seemed to stump the food manager. Told them there's always room for improvement and if I would have said 10 there'd be no room for improvement. He admitted he would have said 10!!! I think most people say 10 just as a suck up so to speak...

I took my cell phone in with me to show pictures of the gift baskets I've made for friends and family. The HR really liked the pictures and enjoyed seeing that I cross-stitch. On my application I put that I have a certificate for Hospitality & Tourism and they prompted me to admit to it in the interview. When I admitted to it the manager said, "YES"!!!!! I was a little confused, but he said the HR understood. That's all that mattered to me.

He said that the job is mainly day shift, but asked me what shifts I prefer and days off. Seemed quite surprised when I said I like Wednesday, Thursday off and either closing or mid shift. But, could understand the need at times for working day shift. The good thing is my response didn't seem to deter him. I think they expected a 15 year employee to want day shift and Saturday, Sunday off.

He also said that if I were to take the job, I would for the most part be working alone. No big deal, since a lot of the time being on the register I'm on my own as it is. But, when things get busy is when they would find some help for me. I would get a couple of weeks training and then about a week with the person who's doing the job right now. What they're looking for is a full time person because this will be the first time they've got a full fledged floral department in that store.

I guess, they had 2 more people to interview after me (I think I maybe the only internal one who applied which would help me). But, they said I should know by the end of the week what the answer is.

Wishing you all the best of luck x stitch. Sounds as if it went well. Saying you will work weekends is usually a winning formula. As most people don't want to do them. 💕💖

Yeah, I've seen that many times in retail. Funny thing is the weekends are the busiest times of the week usually. I didn't mention it, but my biggest concern is depending on what shifts and all, my being able to still spend time with my husband. It's been wonderful all these years having this time together. It'd be a shame to miss out on this by taking on a new position.

I know what you mean hun. I hope that you can get the shifts you want. My fingers are still crossed for you. 💖💋

Oh no way hun. Well im gobsmacked 😦. So sorry i really thought you would get it.. well they dont know a good thing when they see it. Keep your chin up love .💕💋hugs

Aw, big hugs, Cross-stitch. I can tell you're disappointed and I'm so sorry. But, hopefully this means that something better will come along soon, with better hours so that you can see your husband more often. Don't give up hope!

I decided that whenever I get the chance I'm going to do a little more learning online. Found a bunch of tutorials on web designing. In the meantime, I found another position to apply for. It's a part-time one like I already have now. But, it's in the home department and I would be working in the garden center. Plus, they're hiring 2 people instead of just one. Plus, it too is at another store, rather than at my own. I have an interview with the manager on 2/2 at 1:30pm.

Hi x stitch, nice one never hurts to learn more hun.. I could do with doing so myself.
So hope that you can get this job, it's time you got a break here. If you get it you will be working in a garden center part. I am working in a garden center as a visual merchandiser. Maybe we can swap notes and tips hun ☺best wishes and the very best of luck 💕💋

That sounds good Mandy!!! :) We'll see what happens, one thing I might have under my hat is I've filled in during the summer in the garden center at my store a few years ago.

Ah well thats a good thing to have under your belt hun. Any thing you think i may be able to help you with for your interview give me a shout . Tho im sure you will be fine chic. I so so hope this is your lucky break you really deserve it. Best wishes n hugs 💕

I think the best thing would be if I could pack you up and take you with me. Might be easier if it were a visit rather than an interview!!! Just gotta act like the big girl I am and get it done.

Thanks for the offer Mandy! :) Thankfully I've got a few days to think about it...

Lol id gladly be packed up n go with you 😆 i figured you would be just fine hun. Ye a visit would be better . I hate interviews i tend to ramble on a bit coz of nerves lol. Glad iv only done 1in last 11/12yrs ☺. Ye weigh up n maybe write down notes i did n took them with me to refer too coz iv a memory like a sieve 😆.. keep calm.. n get the job.. as the posters say lol 💕

Good luck, Cross-stitch! I hope this is the one! Doing online learning sounds like a really good plan, too. It never hurts to increase your knowledge. Are you hoping to do web design as a career or is this more just for fun?

Interview was only 5-10 minutes!!! Ended up being pretty easy too (they even teased me a little once when I was having a hard time responding to an answer). I think they probably already had an idea of who they wanted. Was like a family reunion with seeing some of those I've worked with before. Told me I'll know within the next couple of days the answer (Wednesday or Thursday).

Rejection #2!!!! Awhile ago I wanted to learn Photoshop. I think I'll be starting with that first (before learning web designing). Let's see where that takes us...

Aw, Cross-stitch, how frustrating! I'm sorry to hear it. Hopefully though the Photoshop and web design learning will pay off for you in the future. My brother taught himself how to write computer code and he managed to get a really high-paying job doing that (he has no degree, he's completely self-taught) so it's definitely possible to make some big bucks by teaching yourself to do that sort of thing.

Almost sounds like photoshop and web design are alot alike. Difference is we have photoshop in our computers but no web design. So, makes more sense to learn photoshop. It's true that if I can get that down that I could be paid quite a bit more than I'm paid now. We'll see where it goes....

Thanks everybody!!!! Will try to keep you updated.

Ah ye i guess that maybe a reason hun. What else could it really.. or is it because you are just to awesome for them to handle hun ☺ they wouldnt want to get shown up now eh!!💕

If that's the case, then I guess it's nice of them to not give you the job if it would force you into a situation where you don't have health insurance. It sounds like maybe they were just looking out for your best interests? Hopefully that's the case.

Can't remember if I said or not. Last week I applied for another job. This time it's for my current department. Only difference is it's for cosmetics section head. It's a 40hr position. Haven't gotten an interview yet. But, will keep you updated. By the way, it's a different store as well.

Thanks Mandy! First time I've posted from my cell phone and worried it didn't take! When I changed to the tablet found why I couldn't find my post. You'd written!!!! :ylol:

Got a phone call Saturday for an interview today at 4pm. Headed there soon. Things have been a bit crazy the last few days with work and such. But, I have 2 people telling me to tell the manager I work with them. Plus, this manager is a good friend of one of the two. I'm taking my current cross-stitch project in to show too so they can see what I do when I'm not at work. We'll see what happens...

All went well. I remembered the assistant from working with her before. Only thing I'm not sure of is starting Sundays at 6am and otherwise working 9am-6pm. It would be a different shift than my husband. So, am not sure. But, will know Thursday or Friday.

Hi Xstitch, thanks for the update. Glad it went well. Ye 6am is a bit of an early start 😕. I guess it's only one day but!!!
See what they say when they get back to you and take it from there hun.
Best wishes n 💕💕

Nope, not this one either!!! But, if I would have gotten the position most likely I would have eventually gotten stuck with my current manager again. Plus, even though I wasn't sure about the schedule we would have made it work. I'll be going in to show the manager my finished cross-stitch though. Back to the drawing board!!!

Oh well as you say the hrs wernt the best for you n tho you could have worked round them.same manager tho mmm maybe just aswell you didnt get it.
Back to the drawing board and keep drawing im sure the right postion will come your way soon hun. Go show off your lovely cross stitch . Il bet they will be impressed n if not then they'll be just jealous hun.
Love n best wishes 💕mandy

Leaving soon for another interview!!! Got a call yesterday at work to set up this one for today. This time it's to be the section head for the children's department. We'll see what happens...

Cross-stitch, all these jobs you've applied for lately - it's all for the same company (the company you currently work for)? It kind of sounds like a toxic work environment if it's been going on this long that you've had a bad manager and can't seem to transfer to a different department. Have you applied for jobs at other companies? Maybe a fresh start would be best at this point. Or would that mean that you'd have to start over with your insurance? If so, then I can see why you'd stay at the same company.

Yup. It's all been with the same company. And, after 15 years with the same company I would be starting over with insurance if I left which is why I'd rather stick with them. Plus, I have tons of sick leave which I've never used and I have vacation time too. Yeah, I've been applying to Costco but haven't heard anything.

Thanks guys! :) Been playing around with photoshop. My husband has written and published a few books so have been messing around with his stuff on photoshop. I'd love to figure out how to make a website for his books with the knowledge and experience I'm gaining...

He's already got 10 books out there that he's written that he sells on Amazon. Plus, he's always thinking of other things to write. So, I'd say he's doing well. Me on the other hand. I'm just enjoying playing at the moment!

Wow thats cool😎
Must have a real talent for it...
Love it when people do well. You must be very proud hun. ☺
Hey cant go wrong playing/trying things out its how we learn...💕💕

Didn't get this job either. But, that's fine with me with being so heavy and such an early shift to boot. However, the manager was really impressed with my interview!!! Plus, I talked with a girl I worked with years ago. All I told her is that I'm still working part time but am having a hard time getting enough hours for my insurance which is why I'm looking to jump ship. She asked me how many hours I need and told me to keep my eyes and ears open. Meanwhile, she'd do the same. So, we'll see what happens...

Hi hun oh well.. im sure all these knockbacks are because the perfect job for you is not to far away, and its keeping you interview ready for when it comes .. so you will pass with flying colours at the interview that really counts hun.. love best wishes💕💕💕Mandy

Well...on Saturday I talked with the management in the Food Department at my store about the possibility of my maybe switching over there to work. Magically, on Monday I happened to check the job board at work in the break room. Believe it or not, there was a part time position there at my store that they were looking for someone in the food department in the floral area!!!!

This is where I'd wanted to be all along!!! So, I applied for the position on Tuesday. When I talked to the 2nd (who's doing the interviews) he mentioned that sometime this coming week I'll be getting an interview with him as well as the lady who's in charge of the floral department. Funny thing is that I know both people really well!!!

I'm so excited!!! Just need to be able to treat this professionally. Will keep you updated...
