Has anyone heard of or had a gracilis muscle flap operation - bascally where they take a muscle from the inside of your thigh to fill the cavity of a non healing peri anal wound ( complication from having rectum and anus removed)

I personally don't have that done but when i was at the colostomy surgery 7 weeks ago, there was a woman in next bed who had that same operation done. She was at the hospital 4-5 days after that, and didn't seem very painful. The prosedure went well and the healing starts very good on her. Surgery was done with Colorectal surgeon and plasticsurgeon.

I hope someone here have more information to you!

Thanks for your reply jimena, sounds promising, hopefully someone will reply whos been through the procedure

I have treated patients post op gracilis muscle (or other muscles) harvested for grafts. For the most part, the ones I've seen have been successful.
