Jennifer and I were just talking and we both thought it'd be cool to have a thread that shows what crafts, hobbies, etc we all do in our spare time. I'd like you all to feel free to post on here whatever you've made. It'd also be interesting to know how long you've been working on this or when it was completed. When did you learn to do it?

Thanks :)

I began cross-stitching as a little girl. I believe I might have been about 9 when I did my first piece. This is one that I made for my Aunt and Uncle. It took a couple of months to do and I finished it sometime in October 2013.

Cross-stitching has helped me with stress especially when I've been pretty sick. Unfortunately, when I do flare my hand eczema gets bad enough that I have to stop because of the fear of putting blood on my projects.

It's maybe not what some would consider a 'craft' and I dont pretend to be amazingly good at it, but I love sketching, its very calming when things are stressful, and its very portable. I've been known to take a small sketch pad and some pencils into hospital with me, there's nothing I find more freeing than sitting with soothing music and just having a doodle :).

Also, maybe not a craft either, but possibly a talent, I can play instruments, guitar especially is very soothing when my hands allow me to play :).

Edit - I apologize for how big the pictures are, I've only just started using Photobucket and haven't re-sized anything just yet.

I crochet and sew! Crocheting is something I can do when I'm not feeling up to doing much else. I tend to make scarves and blankets (because going in straight lines is easiest, ha ha :p ). Sewing takes more effort so I can only do it when I'm feeling well enough. I really like taking old clothes and tailoring them to be cuter, fit better, etc. And my hubby & I always make our Halloween costumes from scratch, too. This year I was Bugs Bunny as Brunhilda (from the "What's Opera Doc" cartoon). (Yes, hubby was Elmer Fudd.) My hubby made my mask and my feet, but I made everything else. I sewed the cute little wrap skirt in about 5 mins. The fleece leggings I made from a pattern, and they were so warm and comfy that I made myself another pair just to wear around the house in the winter. :) I made the shirt, the sleeves, a neckpiece, everything. I have 2 sewing machines, and I tend to keep one threaded with black thread and the other with white, so I can quickly jump from one to the other depending on what color thread I need. It was fun sewing all of this with my 2 machines. Here's a link to a photo of the "making of" my costume:

I realized that I have no photographs of my paintings. :p I dabble in just about every medium but my favorite is sculpture. :)

I insist this doesn't actually require any talent (just time) but I'll throw it out there anyway. The second one is a close up of the first.

I'd say my main hobby is photography and have done so since I was a child. I'm also interested in model railroading, but haven't had the time to do much with it lately.

I don't know if this is a hobby, but I love nature and the outdoors and do a lot of hiking and I also volunteer with our local park system.

@SarahBear - That's beautiful, but I can't tell what it is. Is that a painting?

Jennifer - I didn't realize you were so talented!!...cool.....

I posted a picture on here somewhere of a needle felting project I did of a pumpkin - will have to look for it again. I'm also working on a cat, have the head done and body stared....need some crappy days so I won't feel guilty sitting around working on it.....

I also knit, needlepoint, and garden.....

pasobuff, I half expected to see you putting together a paso! HeHe :rof:

Made a couple cross-stitch napkins/breadcloths in a couple of days during my weekend. Don't have pictures of them yet. But, I've stitched many different ones of these for gifts.

Woah I love the sword. How did you make it?

It's a lost wax casting (except for the blade and part of the hilt, those were wood, the detail is all wax). I took a foundry class in college and my professor let me make just about anything I wanted. I have a few others but don't have pictures for everything. I HIGHLY recommend taking a foundry class if you ever get the chance.

This is an angel turning into a demon on top of the Chrysler Building. I just have the back view at the moment, the front image is somewhere just not on my computer right now.

I also have a dagger (its sitting on my shelf here at home but I haven't photographed it) and a dragon that I sold before I even thought of photographing it. I do have an image of it somewhere of it sitting in the home of the people who bought it. Last thing I did was a little Easter Island head (I didn't make an exact replica, I made it in my own style) but gave it to my boyfriend at the time who said he destroyed it after we broke up along with a ceramic sea dragon I made, what a jerk. I still wasn't photographing my work back then though because I never really thought of myself as an artist who should be doing that.

I'm a photography nerd. I actually became interested in it because of crohns. I love hiking but need to stop for rest from time to time . Finding good spots to stops fun now . Here's my lil buddy from the Oregon coast, and a thawing dragonfly

I dabble in photography. Most of my pictures aren't on this computer though, so I'll have to get to them

Photography. Paid, published and shown. It's my love.

The baby is my daughter. She just had her first birthday!

I also knit.
