Do I have to agree to a permanent colostomy bag?

Yes, it can become a life and death situation, which is exactly what happened to me. My sigmoid perforated, and I had a fistula through my left fallopian tube. I was in seriously bad shape. My suggestion is don't wait til it's an emergency. (understatement of the year) You can have them...

    Leaks after surgery

Yes! The first couple weeks I had 'bits' come out. :eek2: The mucus poops were only occasional for me. But it is normal.

    Leaks after surgery

They forgot to warn me about that too! Yes, you may pass stool out the back passage for a brief amount of time after surgery. For one thing, you probably had some left in your bowel. You may also pass mucus periodically.

Ileostomy surgery tomorrow - relieved, excited and a little intrigued!!

Right now I have 2 Irish Terriers. Normally we have between 2 and 3. But because I do Reiki and Animal Communication...there can be more! No cats allowed in here, the Irish would terrierize them!

    New surgery worst than last

Debbie, I know you don't want to hear this, but you may need to go back to hospital. Not being able to eat or move around is not good at all. I just think it will ensure you will be seen and treated immediately and that IS what you need. Being in agony like that isn't conductive to you...

    New surgery worst than last

Debbie very sorry to hear this. You've been through so much already! I can only say, don't let them just say it will get better over time. It is ok to be a squeeky wheel in a case like this if you are suffering. Is the wound still open? If so, what packing is being done? You aren't alone...

Ileostomy surgery tomorrow - relieved, excited and a little intrigued!!

Echoing the advice above. It's pred...it usually always works. I'm surprised they haven't given you the butt facials before this tbh. Relax, let it do it's work. We have all our digits crossed.
