    Possibly starting Entyvio

Hi Jonny84, sorry for the very late reply ... entyvio should be safer than infliximab for the symptoms you mentioned. The mechanism of action is very specific into the gut only, while anti tnf like infliximab modify the inflammation mechanism of the whole body. How are you doing now ? Any...

    FECAL TRANSPLANTS: A Guide

Research first: Study identifies how the microbiome is disrupted by IBD The biochemical and molecular events that disrupt the microbiome and trigger immune responses during flare-ups of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have been observed and reported by scientists for the first time, say those...

    Entyvio - How Long

Yes I guess a little sign would help. You gotta be patient as the mechanism of action is slow.

Small bowel resection for possible ileo-ileal fistula?

Yes you are right I naively believed them as I trusted them. Now I feel a bit betrayed but relieved. Hope they’ll support me even if I dont follow their plans. I’d like to keep going with entyvio instead of taking nothing. It had great results the first year.

    Entyvio - How Long

Hi crohnsinct, I’m so sorry for your daughter and hope she’ll feel better soon. Entyvio takes usually 3/4 months or even more to fully kick in. I never heard of fever from entyvio, you may want to check it with her doctors. Prednisone doesn’t help either? How old is she? Maybe an elemental...

Small bowel resection for possible ileo-ileal fistula?

Hi guys, finally I saw the surgeon and had his opinion which was slightly different compare to what my GI said. He had a look to my mri and said my situation was not that bad also considering my “mild” symptoms (no vomiting or semi obstruction events). He recommended surgery too but with no...

    Wisdom Teeth Infection/Removal

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth removed, some of my symptoms disapeared after i took the antibiotics. In fact antibiotics are sometimes used to treat crohns. I think only long an repeated courses of antibiotics can really mess your entire microbiome. You should be fine taking probiotics...

    Severe Anemia

I agree with Scipio. I had anemia too when i was on humira and it was not working that much for me and crohns was active. How are the inflammatory markers like pcr and fecal calprotectin? If they are increased that may be a sign of active disease too. A first solution could be to increase the...

Getting remicade infusion while on accutane......

I don’t agree with some of your answers. I was on accutane too, when i was on azathioprin. My dermatologist was worried, but the GI wrote a letter to him saying there was no problem at all, and accutan was not an issue for CD patients. I don’t know specifically if it’s a problem to be on it...

Small bowel resection for possible ileo-ileal fistula?

I had no idea, but I had my last entyvio end of march, so I guess the washout will be enough. I didn’t speak with the surgeon yet, but the gi didn’t mention any worry regarding safety issue having been on entyvio. I guess they’ll only need to monitor the situation and give more antibiotics...

    Biologics or Surgery ?

Very risky to quit standard medication and switch to all the ‘alternative’ treatments you mentioned while you risk surgery, but it’s your call of course. Most of the treatments you mentioned have either no proof they work to ease CD’s inflammation or proofs they do not work.... otherwise IBDs...

Fistulas, Fissures and Abscesses Support Group

I have some discomfort while digesting and sometimes a lot of noise and growling, but nothing too crazy so far... I guess my Dr’s are more worried about the fistula and my bleeding history rather than the obstruction now. My previous surgery was a strictureplasty for 7 strictures... i guess the...

    Stelara and Entyvio?

sorry to read that. I've found a case where it worked, you probably already found it too: https://www.hindawi.com/journals/crim/2017/5264216/ Hope it will work for you too! At the end biologics alone don't have very high rates of success, it's getting me a bit depressed, 2 of them...

    Stelara and Entyvio?

Hi igpcarter, Sounds a great idea to me to combine more biologics. For me for example entyvio was great to keep my hemoglobin high compare to humira... but it failed as inflammation is still going on in my small bowel... why is it your last chance before surgery, and why docs are trying it now?

Fistulas, Fissures and Abscesses Support Group

My last MRI showed a blind fistula in my ileum. It is surrounded by strictures. Also I had strictureplasty 6 years ago for previous strictures, probably in the same area. Humira failed to prevent inflammation and narrowing after 2 years, and Entyvio failed after another 2 years too. Now my...

    Biologics or Surgery ?

Hi Luciana, sorry for the late reply. If the symptoms are manageable I’d try Stelara before surgery. Modulen is a good option as meal replacement for CD. It helped me many times... What did you decide?

    Entyvio (Vedolizumab) Support Group

Hi guys, sorry I don't know your story in details, but don't you think your symptoms could be due to the disease itself (especially fatigues, loss of apetite, higher frequency of bm)? It seems to be the symptoms I had when my disease was not under control, and if you have been on entyvio for...

Small bowel resection for possible ileo-ileal fistula?

Hi guys, here I go, after years of battle against inflammation and strictures in my ileum (with Humira first and entyvio then) it seems I have lose this battle. A tract evolved badly and the last mri showed a possible fistula formation (unclear if between loops or if getting to the skin). My...
