Looking for GI doctors who use EEN/nutrition therapy

My son sees a pediatric GI group associated with Scottish Rite in ATL and they have used EEN as an induction therapy for treatment and then adjunct to treatment. I believe some of them may also use SCD(I know some use to not certain now). Their office and Scottish rite isn't far from Dobbins...

My story: Extraintestinal symptoms worse than the Crohn's itself

Extra intestinal manifestations of Crohns scan definitely affect the areas you speak of. My son doesn't have stomach or abdominal pain or frequent diarrhea or blood associated with his CD but he has spondyloarthropathy (joint disease) that is an extra intestinal manifestations of CD and affects...

My son was diagnosed with CD at 15. He will be 21 this fall. He was also diagnosed with juvenile spondyloarthropathy, which is a...

17, weight gain help and biologics

My son started the biologic, remicade, when he was 15 years old. It is an infusion so you go to the clinic the nurse hooks you up to IV and you chill for aboit 2 hours. It was probably my son's fave biologic because lab work and GI appts were done at the same time. At 16 or 17 he switched to...

Told I should go with surgrey?? really

Here's something to keep in mind with trying remicade first. Remicade isn't a med you can generally go on and come off of repetitively. Once you stop remicade then it is likely your body will develop antibodies to the med creating a higher chance of reaction and making the med ineffective...

    Frustrated

Where is your CD located? Have you tried switching to an all liquid or formula diet to help ease things til the appt or the doc comes back? Some can do the diets with otc brands like boost, ensure or orgain.

    Entyviio Protonix?

Protonix is a med like nexium so completely different from entyvio. Maybe they were saying that along with entyvio they'd like you on protonix as well? I'd call back for clarification.

These rare strep cases are concerning

Please excuse all the typos my cell phones autocorrect loves making me look like a babbling idiot. My husbands niece was never able to tolerate the biologics because she ended up sick with infections that always had opportunistic infections that landed her in the hospital ICU every single time...

These rare strep cases are concerning

There were actually 2 different stories I read. One was the woman maya142 posted about and the other a man in the US. Tessa I totally get Smart not wanted to skip events. C has gotten sick with some viral respiratory illness over winter but that's been it. His gf has had the flu, another viral...

Son dx dec 2016. Now I have the same issues?I might be nuts?

It really isn't about the time it takes to get the dx that rules out everything else. It's more the testing ie blood work, fecal studies, imaging scopes. The meds your son has been on so far are at the bottom end of the pyramid for CD treatments. Pentasa is even off label for CD. It affects the...

These rare strep cases are concerning

Thanks guys. Tesscorm, I hope it's like you said and S has just been over stimulated by all he's gone through and is on the mend health wise. I usually can handle reading stories, hearing about friend's health issues or immersion in research articles. Just seems lately my anxiety gets away with...

These rare strep cases are concerning

Hi all. I've been off and on but haven't posted much about C. He's still rocking along. He's lost weight again over the last month or so. We did blood work last week including vitamins and iron panel. C felt it was iron because he's been really fatigued. Nope HGB was good and ferritin was...

Ughhh POTs so sorry to hear that! In most of the POTs groups I belong to there is a large contingent of member that have EDS as well as gastroparesis. Have they looked at all forms of dysautonomia? I hope the fecal transplant helps with the Cdiff and something can be found to help with her...

    Mom of Son with Crohn's

Hi my son was also dxed at 15. He is 20 now. I do understand where you are coming from about him not experiencing pain with his falres. My son has been asymptomatic for over 3 years yet his disease is active. In fact, he required surgery 2.5 years ago and at the time he had no symptoms except...

    Cimzia again?

Cimzia is just like humira or remicade in that you could have built up antibodies to it if you were on it then came off. I'm assuming they have an antibodies level testing for Cimzia and you'd want to have that done.

Participating in a study where Remicade dose may be doubled!

C was older but at his highest dose he was on 15mg/kg every 5 weeks. Like I said he was older maybe 16 when he started. At the time he was probably 100 lbs.

    Best price of HUMIRA???

Humira or Abbvie(the pharmaceutical company) have a patient assistance program for those that have commercial insurance. It isn't financial based so basically it covers the majority of your out of pocket expense. When my son was on humira we paid 5 dollars per 3 shots. The program is called...
