    EEN and Dental Health

Hi there, I did EEN for 6 weeks over the summer and then I did partial EN for much longer, probably closer to 12 weeks, because I became pregnant and couldn't keep much in the way of food down at all. The nutritional shakes went a long way then. ;) I did have blood and stool testing done, and my...

    Anti-TNFs associated with eosinophilic esophagitis

My son is the one MLP mentioned with EOE. It is the case that eosinophils in the blood are not used to diagnose EOE. One's history and a biopsy of the esophagus is used to diagnose EOE. Elevated eosinophils in the blood can be caused by a number of things. Heck, maybe anti-TNFs sometimes, who...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

I tried the vegan orgain, and it was just awful, I can't blame him. ;) My son had an anaphylactic reaction to a Kate Farms product with pea protein in it, so I have bad feelings about that brand. I'm going to try Modulen, but I will keep the other options in mind. And yes, I'm in the U.S. :)

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

Hey, thanks for checking in. :) For one, I feel like at least one of my strictures is permanent (imaging showed two or three). I can feel boluses getting stuck in one spot and taking a while to make their way through. So that's not encouraging. For two, I'm looking forward to reaching the end...

    Oral Crohn's

He just doesn't seem to have any lesions other than his mouth, tho, and this says there are usu skin lesions present. I dunno. We will figure it out.

    Oral Crohn's

Well, it could be something like Sweets; looks like it can be brought on/made worse through illness and we are recovering from COVID at the moment.

    Oral Crohn's

Okay, I'm going to look those up 😂

    Oral Crohn's

I was afraid it could be an inflamed system issue. I am also in an EOE forum, so I will ask there too, I just haven't seen it come up there and I knew that Crohn's of the mouth was a thing. My second son has some suspected GI issues, and he has poor teeth as well, but nothing so bad as my first.

    Oral Crohn's

I guess I'm also a bit surprised at the dermatologist suggestion. I didn't know they do mouth things?

    Oral Crohn's

Thanks guys; correct, my son is dx with EOE and I'm dx with Crohn's. My son's EOE has been managed with diet up to this point. I've really tried to avoid drugs, if possible. I'm not sure how much longer we can avoid tho. I'm just at my wit's end with his dental problems (they have been many)...

    Oral Crohn's

Can anyone talk to me about oral Crohn's disease? My oldest son has two ugly ulcers in his mouth and yesterday a piece of his lower, front gum peeled right off revealing part of the adult tooth below the gum line! His dentist keeps saying he needs to brush better/more, but he does brush every...

25% modulin and diet to maintain remission

Well, I think a part of the reason we don't do things like 25% elemental plus CDED is because there just isn't a whole lot of research on it...but of course, there isn't a whole lot of research on diet because it doesn't make money the way a drug does. So. It's a bit of a catch 22. Although I...

    Milk Thistle Extract Experiences

Hello all, I'm transitioning from EEN to the SCD and I'd like to start taking milk thistle extract because I'm expecting and have always had bad morning sickness. Milk thistle is the one thing I hit on during my last pregnancy that seemed to really help. That and extra vitamin supplements. It...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

I understand where you're coming from. When I read the drug info for the drugs available for Crohn's, I'd prefer to avoid. I realize that I may eventually need them; there will probably come a time when living with flares is more serious and pressing that the side-effects, but I'd love to push...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

Thanks for sharing that with me, @my little penguin, I did discuss this with my GI. It was an obstruction that finally landed me in the ER; it was causing epigastric pain (tho the strictures are in my terminal ileum). From my colonoscopy, she thinks there's a chance that my stricturing was...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

And thanks for the video about the DINE-CD study, I had meant to follow-up on that one because I had heard about it before it was published. I believe (though I could be wrong) that they used a modified SCD that allowed some rice and oatmeal? I'd have to spend some time finding that back again...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

Circling back around here to thank you @westernbuddy for your opinion and thoughts. I may go ahead and buy that book, that's a good thought about vitamin deficiencies. I feel pretty confident that I have a good grasp on nutritional needs, but I'm always interested in learning more. The thing...

    Starting EEN Tomorrow

Hello all! I finished EEN a week ago and have been consuming 50% elemental and 50% food based on the SCD. I got my calprotectin numbers back today and they have declined to 90 from 256 previously, so that sounds pretty good to me, right? I'm just hoping that SCD is the right dietary choice for...

    Elemental 028

Darn, I'm so sorry it didn't work for you this time. Hoping you find something that works for you quickly!
