    Heard from Doc today

Hopefully the crohnsinct family is doing well and not concerned with Crohn's at all anymore.

    Waiting for Results

Crohn's can have subtle, nonspecific symptoms even when a kid is actually really sick. It's not too uncommon for Crohn's to show up mostly with downstream effects like your son has.

    Humira Fail What Next..

I'd like to point out that MLP's son, my son, asadmom's son, and Scipio have all had positive results with Stelara. In my opinion, Stelara is a really good option, but Skyrizi may be just as good or possibly better.

    Humira Fail What Next..

The most common insurance requirement is that a patient must fail one anti-TNF before trying any other biologics. After one anti-TNF failure, usually all of the other options open up. This is very bad for patients because anti-TNFs are neither the most effective nor safest option, but the...

    Humira Fail What Next..

I would choose Skyrizi. According to the papers, it appears to be very effective, and it's more narrowly targeted than Stelara.

    Stelara is working

I'm actually a big proponent of EEN. EEN is exactly what many people need in many situations. However, it's not always the best option, and after some time and experimenting we eventually came to a better solution, at least for now.

    Stelara is working

Yes, he's still doing well. EEN was not as effective as Stelara in his case, and obviously it's a huge lifestyle impairment.

    Modulen diet

Symptoms are often subtle with Crohn's. In general, occasionally treating it when it flares up is not a preferred way of dealing with Crohn's. Some long-term treatment is usually required, and you'll want frequent monitoring along with that to make sure everything is on track (esr, crp, fecal...

    Modulen diet

I understand being optimistic that you can just take care of it with the special diet and that would be the end of it. In a lot of ways, Crohn's can seem like it *should* act that way, like a simple infection with an easy solution. His symptoms are probably already down a lot with the Modulen...

This doesn't sound like Crohn's, right...?

Sounds like you have a somewhat high chance of Crohn's. Colonoscopy is a good idea.

Autism spectrum disorders and the gastrointestinal tract: insights into mechanisms and clinical relevance

There's definitely a high correlation between autism/aspergers and Crohn's, but it's hard to know exactly why.

Broccoli sprouts diet protects mice from Crohn's disease, study shows

Humans with high fiber diets have been found to get less Crohn's, too. Here's my guess on how this could work. Maybe the fiber and/or other components of the broccoli dilute and/or neutralize chemicals in the digestive system that would cause damage to tissues.

Skyrizi Beats Stelara in Several Key Factors in Head-to-Head Comparison Trial

I'm just referring to insurance requirements and common prescribing patterns. These things take years to change. You're lucky that you've been allowed to get Skyrizi first.

    Calprotectin level after stopping Remicade

I'm curious, what was his plan when stopping Remicade, and why did he stop? Did he just want to see if he still needed it, or was the Remicade causing other problems? Sometimes, people can stop biologics and their Crohn's will stay in remission, but studies have found that a good looking...

    Possible Crohns

Wow that definitely all sounds like Crohn's. It's interesting to see how it can happen without very obvious symptoms. There is a chance that with the growth hormone and hopefully getting the Crohn's under control right away, he can catch up on growth and puberty. My son is currently catching up...

    Can it be Crohn's disease?

It sounds like some kind of intestinal issue to me, but probably not Crohn's. Perhaps something along the lines of diverticulosis?

Thanks for your kind words, @asadmom

    Stelara is working

It's been a long time so I thought I'd provide another update: No signs of inflammation on any test (blood work, fecal calprotectin, mri, colonoscopy) for over 2 years. No Crohn's symptoms for months. Early this year there was still some occasional abdominal pain, but that tapered away...

Entyvio vs Stelara - looking for advice

Regarding syringe vs pen: The Stelara injection is a fairly large volume, and we've found that it's best to push it in somewhat slowly. A pen injector has a fast speed and doesn't allow that kind of custom speed. However, a pen may be preferable for a low volume injection where fast or slow...

Entyvio vs Stelara - looking for advice

An injection every 2 weeks would be Humira, not Entyvio or Stelara. (but see edit below) Standard dosing: Humira: injection every 2 weeks Entyvio: IV infusion every 8 weeks Stelara: 1 IV infusion then injections every 8 weeks Needle phobia can be reduced with numbing cream and maybe some other...
