    Can't Get Shingles Shot

I have been meaning to ask the group if anyone has any information or experience with Shingles and Crohns. I was refused the Shingles vaccine at Walgreens because it's a live virus that you're injected with, and Humira makes it harder for us to defend ourselves. Do we therefor have a greater...

    Will Humira Go Generic?

I've known about Remicade being infused in the hospital and covered by Medicare, as opposed to Humira being a self injected shot and only partially covered from the first. I started on Humira because of it's low incidence of rejection. The problem now is, if I switch and my body rejects...

    Will Humira Go Generic?

Ron, while I appreciate your empathy, it's really not a "sorry" thing. It's an exploitation by unregulated big business. If I as a boomer am having trouble retiring, how are younger Crohn's people going to do it? Humira is great, but nothing legitimately costs $4000 for two shots, especially...

    Will Humira Go Generic?

Medicaid applies to people on disability, which I am not. I'm not sure of the figures because its been 6 months since I last actively pursued it, but the approximately $8000 out of pocket figure is the maximum I'd have to hit to go into catastrophic coverage. But even then, and after...

    Will Humira Go Generic?

My insurance coverage while working is the same as yours, Dan. I've been researching for two years trying to retire and Medicare itself only covers half, and even then you have to come up with about $8000 in January and February just to blow through their various levels into catastrophic...

    New Formulation of Humira

If the new formula is not available in the US, I'm either getting more used to the stick, or it's the power of suggestion. After several years, during the last month or two the shots somehow haven't felt the same.

    Will Humira Go Generic?

In the last 6 months to a year I have read in several places that Humira is due to go generic this fall. I have also heard they are tweaking the drug to avoid this. The drug is currently $4000 a month in Illinois; I would be interested in what it costs round the world. But the point is, I have...

    New Formulation of Humira

I just took my bi-weekly shot yesterday and I have noticed that the last few times have been easier and less painful. They were never terrible, but now are even less so.

    Work precautions with Humira?

3-1/2 years on Humira and I work in a factory and interact with grandchildren all the time, and I've not had any serious issues. I still get colds, a flu shot, and even some flu, but nothing worse than before.

    Two days

I had my delivery delayed by a couple days one time, and my doc wasn't too alarmed. I suspect there's some leeway included in the "two weeks" time frame. Generally speaking, is it helping you? You've only been on it for a month or so, correct?

Humira not working, but no antibodies/levels fine

hcrum87hc, I had several strictures that led me to going on Humira. They were about to do surgery in both cases, but my GI instead recommended that they: 1. drain my stomach to relieve the pressure and 2. put me on a dose pack of prednisone and I'll be darned if the strictures didn't...

Humira not working, but no antibodies/levels fine

When I was diagnosed, my doc said to make sure I stayed on my meds because Crohn's was "a tiger". Back then nobody knew about the disease, now it seems like everybody knows somebody with it. I wonder what the stats say; are the numbers increasing? I don't know why you would get worse after that...

    Humira complications

A second opinion might be good, but who can find and afford the time and money to see yet another specialist? I think six weeks off of Humira might have been too long. They say if you're off for an extended time you create antibodies against it. You might have to move to another biologic like...

    Prayer and Spiritual Support

Have you any reason to take it anywhere? in your car, in another room than the normal place you keep it? Have you moved things around, or cleaned up that area recently?

Does that mean you found the Entocort, Ron? That's the little brother to Prednisone, isn't it? Are you taking this in addition to Humira?

    Humira Club Support Group

Ron There's a notice on the Humira two pack box that says it can be left out for 14 days if its kept out of the light. A few hours shouldn't be a problem, but I'm protective of it too, since I'm injecting it. Mine is usually sent on a Monday and delivered on a Tuesday in a box with styrofoam...

    Humira Club Support Group

My doc has me taking blood test every three months to check whether I'm developing ant-bodies against Humira.I thought it was a requirement for everybody.

    Humira Club Support Group

Humira seems to stop catastrophic trouble with me, but if I'm foolish I still have loose bowels. Ice cream, milk, now sometimes coffee and cola bother me, so Im getting more careful.

    Humira Club Support Group

I've been on Humira for 3 1/2 years and i've always thought the pen injections were much less painful in the stomach. Somebody suggested holding an ice cube on the spot you're using for a minute or so beforehand. That does help a bit, but I always forget.

Beginning Humira with a known stricture?

hcrum87c, that's what Humira does for me too. I've also had that area either side of where my appendix was expanded a couple times during a colonoscopy. Sometimes when I'm very unstable and feeling poorly I use Metamucil and it helps a lot. Other people have told me they can't take it.
