    Combination Therapy

Went in on Monday to get my blood work done. I got the results yesterday and was told my labs looked great, so they want me to stop the 6mp. Just worried about the thought of antibodies forming to the Remicade. Any thoughts?

    Don't know what to do

Inflectra is a biosimilar to Remicade. It is suppose to be cheaper than Remicade. From what I know people who switch from Remicade to Inflectra have a 50/50 shot of their symptoms coming back. People who start on a biosimilar are less likely to flare.

NuttyGuts, that sounds awful. Hopefully things will get better soon!

How often do you need a colonoscopy

Another thing I hate about colonoscopies is that people say it is not that bad. I absolutely hate this when people say that because one, people who say this probably have never had a colonoscopy, and two, they don't understand how bad prepping for one is.

    Don't know what to do

Hey everyone, just came to update on everything 5 months in and everything is still perfect. Had my 5th Remicade infusion on January 19. I got my routine blood work done on Monday. Doctor called and said my labs looked great. He wants me to discontinue the 6mp which makes me worried about the...

How often do you need a colonoscopy

I get mine done every 5 to 6 years. I think the longer you are in remission, the less frequent you need to get one done.

    Capsule endoscopy or MRI ?

If there is no blood, it could be a sign of IBS. IBS and Crohn's both have similar symptoms, but with Crohn's, there would be blood in your stool and inflammation somewhere along your digestive track.

    Capsule endoscopy or MRI ?

Do you have blood in your stool? That would be a big indicator of Crohn's or Colitis. Do you have any other symptoms? You could try a different doctor's opinion and see what they think.

    Capsule endoscopy or MRI ?

You could try capsule endoscopy. Your other option is a colonoscopy.

Doctor will not write me a prescription for remicade unless I get a colonoscopy

When was the last time you've had a colonoscopy? Some doctors want colonoscopies every so often just to make sure things such as mucosal healing and inflammation, as stated by Scipio, are all in good condition. My doctor typically wants me to get one done once every 5-6 years since I have been...

    Adding additional immunosupressant to biologics

Never heard that you can't. The thing that you have to understand is that 6mp and Imuran suppress your immune system, making it easier to get infections. That could possibly be why.

    Delaying Remicade Infusion

I have been on Remicade since August, so not that long.

Really strange experience with first remicade infusion

Don't worry about the prednisone taper. I was in a similar situation. I was down to about 10mg of prednisone a week before my first infusion, and they wanted me do a quick taper off. I was worried things would get worse, but luckily they didn't. And so far, remicade has been working perfectly...

    Delaying Remicade Infusion

I will have to delay my remicade infusion by two days. I know it's not a huge delay but I am just concerned. Currently, I get my infusions every 8 weeks.

    Coping with a flare

Your first goal is try to get off the steroids once you find a maintenance treatment. You mentioned Remicade, and I want you to know, Remicade is what put me in remission. It is a very effective treatment and has little to no side effects. You also mentioned getting frequent blood tests. When...

    New dxCrohn's @13

Hi and welcome. Don be hesitant to try a different medication. Who knows. Maybe Stelara will be the medication that will give a wonderful period of remission. If you are going through a flare just be careful what you eat and drink. Otherwise, make sure you monitor yourself and let your doctor...

    Adding additional immunosupressant to biologics

Yes, one of the main reasons doctors prescribe a biologic and an immunosuppressant together is to prevent antibodies forming to the biologic. It may not be a bad idea to add an immunosuppressant. Has your son tried any other biologics and if so has he formed antibodies to it? For me personally...

Really strange experience with first remicade infusion

From what you described, it most definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. The good news is that there are several more biologics that you could try. As for your heart racing, I would get that checked out. Were you nervous going into your first infusion? It is best to be as calm and relaxed...

    Adrenal Fatigue - Entocort

I was on prednisone twice last year, and every time I would try to taper, my symptoms came back. Also, I had a lot of trouble sleeping and night sweat too. I eventually started Remicade and it has been a lifesaver for me.

    Worried that running causies inflammation

Also, you said that you have suffered from constipation. Constipation could also possibly be a factor that is causing problems with your running. From what I have learned, the best time to go running is after a bowel movement.
