Combined treatment with Humira & Stelara

We were allowed to wait longer, it was a few weeks. We had been dosing 40mg Humira every 7 days. But her Humira levels were VERY high and she was having some side effects. When we started Stelara we did strict CDED diet for 12 weeks while we built Stelara levels in her system. This was ok'd by GI.

Travel- how do you get your infusions?

I have younger children so I can't speak to your particular situation. @crohnsinct and @Maya142 might have good advice as they have college aged kids who are on the move. They will probably chime in. We live too far from our children's hospital to make infusions at all convenient so what we...

I have nothing to report except we are consulting with a pediatrician in a few weeks who might get us the right referral faster. ALSO we got her a puppy. 🐕‍

Because I have no medical understanding of the results of the MRI, I am deferring to my GP on this one.

It really seems like a no brainer to check bone density - but no. Schmorl's node is when the soft part inside the vertebrae somehow gets pushed up or down in the adjacent vertebrae but my question is how on earth does that even happen with no injury? That was just something the GP threw out...

Milder back pain since the chiropractor, 2-3 regularly, higher if she tries to do fun stuff. Very tired all the time, on week 4 of EEN tomorrow and maintaining her weight, no bowel symptoms. We retest calpro again midway through January and make med decisions based on those results.

We consulted with her GP. He was encouraged by the lack of signs of infection. He mentioned possibly Schmorl's nodes. We're just checking bloodwork with a referral to a pediatric neuro-surgeon. I am just trying to read up on this.

Thinking of O. Hopefully, she gets some good news.

There isn't another option for scopes at this time. The children's hospital is affiliated with the adult hospital and to some degree shares resources. If there was an obvious emergency I would go there with her, but she is under care and next steps are only after 4 more weeks of EEN and an fcal...

No to sports, she babies her body. Only swimming and short walks work for her. She has never been an athlete. The only reason we start at GP is that he HAS to refer her. I can't go around that hoop. Health care works differently in Canada. I asked the nurse who called about the MRI if H should...

The GI office suggested maybe a herniation or an infection in her spine. They did not have the images but only the radiologist's report.

It used to bother H to have the higher calorie formula, but it works for her now. She needs an additional litre of water to counter the osmality but she is managing fine. It is best to work with an RD.

We did travel to get the MRI this weekend(it only took a few weeks to get in due to a cancelation opening) they are running it 7 days per week and able to staff it. I think it's overnight stay procedures and anything that uses the O.R. that we can't access. I just will need to get through my GP...

I assume that the mri looked at colon too because it's our main option for imaging but I am only assuming. It wasn't meant to look at her spine at all but it was visible and noted so they called me to urge a follow up. I am just hoping it's not arthritis. Maybe an injury that we never noticed...

I wish. They won't give our daughter OR time because she's an out of province patient due to Covid-19 backlog. Repeat fcal after 6 weeks of EEN.

My son is 21, Newly Diagnosed with Crohns

I am in Canada and haven't had luck getting formula covered here unless it is put through a tube. BUT I have an amazing dietician who orders through the hospital at such a good price. If you can get a deal like that it helps. You can also use a store brand/off brand of a plus calories formula...

My son is 21, Newly Diagnosed with Crohns

I feel for you with the parent guilt. You've had a lot of solid advice already but I wanted to add that if he has strictures the dietician may be able to help him figure out what types of foods to avoid while he is healing. If he has lost a lot of weight, then incorporating some calories from...
