    Humira working or not?

Hello! I started Humira back in September and after the 2 loading doses, I felt great and for a couple of months after that continued. I managed to get off pred with minimal symptoms. In December symptoms started to return, mainly fatigue and loose BMs and losing blood now and then. It could...

UK people, join your local support group!

Would it be possible to make one for Kingston Upon Hull (or just Hull). According to my GI there's quite a lot of cases in the city compared to a lot of others. Not sure why...

    Imuran/Azathioprine/6-MP Support Group

Anyone else here with a deficiency in TPMT and on a low dose of 6MP? I've started on 25mg and I'm tolerating it well, wondering if it will be increased or not.

    First hospitalization...help

I'm gonna put bets on it being the aza. Doubt it's Crohn's related, especially with him being on pred at the moment. Did he have his TPMT levels checked beforehand? If not, he may not be able to tolerate purines such as aza and 6MP at higher doses.

    Crohn's Related to Blood Type

Just read that those with type A blood are susceptible to disease and also have a sensitive immune system. That would explain a lot...

    Undiagnosed Club Support Group

@ gotumtum - thanks, I got offered the job today. Things are finally looking up after this horrible year! Never thought I'd be able to work with my CD. :) I am currently on combination therapy (6mp and Humira), by no means am I in remission yet, but I'm getting there. --- Really hope you get...

    Undiagnosed Club Support Group

Not too bad thanks gotumtum. Still not 100%, but getting there! Even when you get your diagnosis, although a relief, it's a whole new battle to find something that works in terms of treatment. On a lighter note, I've had a few job interviews and waiting for responses. So nervous...

Effects of alcohol on your IBD

I would say it had mild effect on my IBD. However I know that in the long term it could have a possibly severe outcome, like increasing the likelihood that I'll flare again or even the need for surgery. I'm not an alcoholic, but I would say I have a 'drink problem'. The problem being when I do...

    Combination Therapy

Hey! I just wanted to ask how many of you are on combination therapy using both biologic and immunomodulatory drugs together. My GI believes it's necessary in my case, but I'm unsure. He said it's due to the likelihood of antibodies building up against the Humira antibody, but there's so many...

Thoughts on Imuran with Humira and cancer

I'm on Humira and will be adding 6MP somethime this week or next. The cancer risk does scare me, as it would anybody, but it's a matter of treating the existing disease rather than worrying about another, especially when the risk of that is so small. Obviously I can't possibly know how it must...

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

Oh I see! I'll mention it to him then. Entyvio is in trials sk12383, I would love to try it though, since it works more locally rather than affecting the whole body. For some reason my GI doesn't like the idea of me having infusions because it will interfere with my work - I don't have a job...lol.

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

Wait, so inhibiting that enzyme further probably wouldn't be a good idea for me? Since I have low levels already, it would make it even more likely to cause a negative reaction right?

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

I haven't, BUT I did read somewhere that allupurinol inhibits the drug somehow. I'll bring that up to my GI. I actually would like to give thiopurpines another chance because I literally got off them after 3 days, just because I got itchy. The fact I have very low TPMT scared me though and I...

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

Thank you both! When I see my GI on Wednesday I'm sure we'll go over some of the options. I may give low-dose 6MP I try before MTX. Humira is working well, so this is why I really don't want it to stop working. I've finally managed to get down to 5mg of pred without symptoms returning. It just...

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

See, MTX really scares me. Well, the side effects. How are you feeling on it? Do you take it orally or via syringe?

'Surgery isn't an option for you'

What does this mean? I have panenteric CD (gastric, duodenum, terminal ileum, colon including rectum, known fistulising perianal disease) according to the letter I received from my GI, so my assumption was that it's perhaps in too many areas of the bowel, therefore no single section of it can...

    Starting Humira Soon

My only advice would be to not have any preconceived notions about it and not to worry too much about the pain. It stings for 10 seconds at most and then it's over for 2 weeks! Humira is already working for me after the loading doses and one self-injection. I've finally managed to get down to...

    SCD/Paleo/GAPS Support Group

Hey. Just wondering how those on the SCD diet avoid 'illegal' ingredients in medications such as lactose and rice flour. Those are two ingredients found in medications I take. I also stopped taking a multivitamin that contained sorbitol syrup, but I know that I can easily find an alternative...
