    This is a first...

A bit peeved... My cousin posted a status on facebook earlier saying the following: "Grandma, I don't think there's connection between Crohn's disease and being gay." - sentence I never expected to say in my life. Yes, this is my grandmother too. So putting two and two together, I'll say they...

Should I ask for Elemental 028?

D: That's real determination! I'd have probably grabbed one haha. I think once I get them, I'll probably start replacing lunch with a couple because I feel I've overdone it a little lately. I think oh, ice cream is low residue *eats entire tub*. Not good. I had a huge appetite before pred and...

Should I ask for Elemental 028?

I've had to order some more. Have to say since running out I haven't felt as great, so they were doing something beneficial. Plus, I actually really liked them. My weight has also dropped again which was steadily going up.

    Iron issues

Thanks. Gonna bring it up in my next appointment on Tues. I'll just say I had to stop taking them because of the pain. Not sure about the B12, I've continued that without any problems.

    Iron issues

I was prescribed iron back in May for mild anemia associated with my IBD. Ever since I have noticed that when I do take them, my symptoms worsen which is think is due to the constipating effect iron has. I've also read somewhere that iron can cause bleeding in the GI tract. During my...

    Finding a lifestyle balance

Thank you gotumtum! That's exactly what I wanted to do, put this down on paper and get it out there. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with this! :) Sugar is one for me too. I think we all struggle with that one. One of the worlds most dangerous yet widely available addiction...

    One persons remission story.

Thanks for sharing your story! I didn't want to make a whole thread asking this, so (forgive me OP!) I thought I'd ask here... I really don't want to go down the mainstream route of treating my crohn's and stories like this give me hope that I don't have to. Immunosuppressants to me feel like...

New-ish Crohn's grrl taking control of my health

Welcome! I definitely don't plan on sticking to mainstream medicine forever, but for now I need to get my symptoms under control and research what other options I have. I really don't like the sound of immunosuppressants - it's controlling a disease by opening the floodgates to more disease. I...

    Finding a lifestyle balance

Throughout my entire life, I've always been one to overindulge, pick up bad habits (and addictions) and fail at moderation. Currently my vices in life are mainly drinking and eating unhealthily. I did smoke, but thankfully managed to kick that habit almost a year ago. Now I have a diagnosis, I...

Hope everything goes well StarGirrrrl. I think tomorrow you should give yourself a pamper day and treat yourself to some of your favourite foods (that agree with you of course). It's going to be a stressful but hopefully enlightening week for you! From 2006 to now, being sick, you must have the...

    How are you feeling today?

Not too bad, other than I keep going against my low residue diet. In the morning I take all my medication, drink my elemental and have something sensible like scrambled eggs. Then suddenly I'm eating a McDonald's. -_- I blame pred!

Should I ask for Elemental 028?

I get mine on prescription. Not sure when I have to stop taking them, I think they were mainly for my weight/nutrition, but he said they do have a 'crohn's fighting mechanism' - not sure that that is!

Should I ask for Elemental 028?

How many did you drink a day? I have to have 4, with food. My GI said complete elemental works best in children, so for adult patients he tends to do low-residue diet with a mixture of both steroids and elemental 028. He said I'd struggle to drink even 2, but I actually like them...

Should I ask for Elemental 028?

Just noticed this thread and was wondering if others have taken elemental 028 with pred, which I'm doing now. I take 40mg daily with 4 of the drinks and my weight is slowly increasing. If you do, make sure you get the summer fruits. Orange is rank.

Like you said, it sucks to have IBD, but it sucks more to have it and not know for sure. So I'm really happy you got your diagnosis happyballerina! It's great to know that there's future medical professionals like yourself out there that know first hand how it feels too. Seems like we're all...

I still find it mad that I looked at this forum 2-3 years ago and thought 'what an awful thing that must be to have' and moved straight on. It was in the very early days of developing symptoms. I thought I was coeliac for a long time and it wasn't until a reality star here in the UK (Sam...

    Medicinal marijuana

How do those that use MM usually take it? I've read about using cannabis oil, but that seems somewhat time consuming. I saw another blog with a lady that put it into her juicer with other things and this was to treat cancer, not inflammation.

    Connected to crohns?

I get this too! The skin under my eyes gets really hot, blotchy and itchy. Could definitely be linked.

    Food Confusion

Hey. For me, I just seem to know what sets me off from past experiences. I usually give foods like two chances and if they cause me problems both times, they're out! I seem to have a lot of problems with indigestible foods like sweet corn and peas. It also depends on how I feel too. If I'm...

Exactly why I won't be going anywhere, because you guys give the best advice. :) I'm just feeling sorry for myself, which I'm sure will pass. I really want to be able to help others once I start feeling more like me, a healthier me. Having a diagnosis is so much better than being in limbo, not...
