    Azathioprine Dosage

Hi Alan: Your dose is below what's recommended for your body weight, per what the others have said. I hope that you can get things sorted soon, since you are not seeing the expected results. I had to try about 5 different ways to get my GI to see this same thing last Monday. Finally, he had me...

Am i ready for stronger treatment?

Hi: I agree re. the option of getting a second opinion. A few questions to consider: is your Crohn's considered severe, moderate, mild? Is that based on imaging or based on your symptoms? Are you having symptoms that significantly impact on your quality of life? Have you tried Imuran, which...

    Insomnia - What helps?

As a person with a mild neurological disorder that comes with MAJOR sleep problems, can I ever understand! On steroids, things got so so so much worse. Interestingly, now that I'm off steroids, the increased fatigue from Crohn's seems to be helping me get to sleep at night and I'm having fewer...

CHALLENGE: Take a walk each day

That sounds really nice, Hawkeye! Can I ask which river? I kayak on the Kennebecasis each summer (if I can get time + plane fare!). I rode my bike instead of walking today again -- must get in as much cycling as possible before the snow flies. Since it's Thanksgiving, the streets were very...

CHALLENGE: Take a walk each day

Hi Gang: Walked (and rode the train) home from work tonight with the campus security volunteers. Nice company, and no walking alone on dark paths! It was drizzling but a good walk nonetheless. The walking portion of the trip home takes about 20-25 minutes total. Annnnnd...guess which girl...

    Methotrexate here we go...

A basket sounds like such a lovely idea! I replaced briefcase with my "teachery bag" last year -- handmade (not by me), it fits lots, is lighter, and gets compliments to boot! (And, I got it on sale, win!)...

    Methotrexate here we go...

Wowza, what an eventful time indeed. So very thankful that you are ok and recovering. I can't wait to hear about the new Aura, sans debilitating reflux. And the job!!!! Congratulations to you. New woman in a new career...we should all pitch in to buy you a new briefcase for the first day...

    L'il Update From The Moon

Poor, poor Silver. Treat yourself really nicely, take it an hour at a time (a minute at a time if you need to), and know that we're all pulling for you.

Who's done with their Christmas shopping?

Ah, Gutless, what a time you've been through, and it's one less thing for you to think about now while you put your feet up and keep on with that speedy healing. Keep on feeling better! Re. your question: Family -- I finished 3 out of 4 stockings in July but not the main gifts to allow time...

CHALLENGE: Take a walk each day

Hi all: Yay, Jessi's husband! Congratulations! What happy news. The debilitating muscle and joint pains have passed. Such a relief. I still have some foot pain but it's manageable. So yesterday I walked to do errands. I went for blood work, got my nails painted ($5 for a great pick-me-up!)...

    Who is involved in research?

Oh, Carrie, I'm sorry that it looks like you wondered if I took what you said the wrong way...I didn't! I should have put a "teasing" sign up, or finished my "but alas" statement by saying "but alas they might not be in touch with reality." Some psychologists are hardcore, let's study the brain...

    Who is involved in research?

It's also the case in the social sciences. :) Also, I know some psychologists who would cry if they heard the field referred to as anything but a hardcore science...but alas...

    Who is involved in research?

I collected daily diary data for my PhD dissertation with SurveyMonkey! My participants had already taken part in an earlier phase of the study and agreed to move on to the diary phase. I was one of the first at my institution to use SurveyMonkey. Also, Notfullyf, I'm a bit of a methods geek...

    Who is involved in research?

Aha, now this is another interesting question. I suspect that we will find that there are multiple triggers that interact in multiple ways to produce IBD. As you know, we can look at health and symptoms as (a) falling along a continuum, or as (b) fitting into a series of discrete categories...
