    Anemia?

Thanks for the suggestions. I still haven't heard from GI yet. DD hasn't gotten her first period yet but I was wondering if maybe she's going to start and that could have made it drop? Probably not, I'm guessing it's just DURING menstruation that iron drops.

    Anemia?

Yesterday was infusion day for DS and DD. DS labs look great except for slightly low albumin so we'll increase calorie/protein intake. DD hemoglobin dropped from 11.4 to 9.1 so GI wants her to take Ferrous Sulfate 325mg twice daily. That seems like a lot. I have a message in to her but wondering...

    Constipation?

What do you all consider constipation? DD took a Zpack for her sinus infection and had loose, sometimes frequent stool for a few days after stopping but never diarrhea. For the last two days she's had firm almost pebble-like bowel movements. I had her start her Colace (50mg twice a day) to see...

    Loose stool after finishing Zpack

She doesn't have any watery stools so I don't think they'd be able to do a test for CDiff. I could be thinking of a different test but I'll ask her GI tomorrow. Thanks!

    Loose stool after finishing Zpack

It's me again! DD finished Zpack two days ago and sinus infection is gone but she has been having loose, frequent bowel movements. I know the Zpack stays in your system for a few days after stopping and we did mention the loose stool to her GI at her appointment a few days ago and she didn't...

    Antibiotics for sinus infection?

Thanks for all the replies! I did ask GI a few weeks ago if Zpack was ok or if she wanted something to cover the gut as well (though DD is not having any symptoms...thank goodness). She said Zpack was fine but we need to be "judicious" about antibiotics so I waited. Now that it keeps coming back...

    Antibiotics for sinus infection?

I did a few weeks ago and she said yes to zpack but only if needed so I held off.

    Antibiotics for sinus infection?

So DD had sinus infection symptoms for a few weeks but I didn't give her an antibiotic because I wanted to see if it was just a virus and would go away by itself. It seemed to but now a week or two later, symptoms are back: sinus headache, dizziness, stuffy nose, low grade temp. I'm wondering if...

    Elevated labs?

Both my kids had their Remicade infusions yesterday (I'm happy they're synced up!) and DS labs look great. DD labs look "stable" but her liver tests are slightly elevated (normal for one test was up to 17 and the other was up to 24 and her levels were around 54). She has a cold right now and...

OK not to go for a day or two?

My 14 year old DD was just diagnosed 5 months ago and had a resection about 2-1/2 months ago. Before she was diagnosed, she had the constipation symptoms of Crohn's. Sometimes she didn't go for 5-6 days (she didn't tell me that until after diagnosis!). Since her resection and starting Remicade...

    Stomach flu advice

Hi all....I could REALLY use some tips. Quick recap: My now 16 year old son was diagnosed in August 2014 after doc perforated him during colonoscopy which led to surgery, abscesses, fistula, etc. Then my now 14 year old daughter was diagnosed a few months ago and after months in the hospital had...

    Distention after resection

It has been almost two weeks since DD resection and she's doing great! She's eating a lot and has gained five pounds. She's still on 10 mg of Prednisone for now until she can get her last loading dose of Remicade. Her white count was a little high and went up a bit since we left the hospital but...

    Labs after surgery

Surgery was five days ago and DD is doing great! They're switching pain meds and Prednisone to oral and decreasing TPN by 25% every day. She's eating well and going to the bathroom and passing gas. Her Hemoglobin went from 12 to 10.4 after surgery. Also white count is 13.3 but the last one they...

    Newly Diagnosed Child with Crohn's

I am so sorry your son (and you!) Have to go through this! My now 16 year old son was diagnosed in 2014 with a colonoscopy. The doc perforated his intestine and he needed emergency surgery. He went on Remicade and has been in remission for six months now! My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed...

    Surgery update

Thank you all for the support. She's still having some pain while urinating but she's found that holding a pillow to her tummy helps to push it out. She's been moved up to full liquid diet so she was happy to eat a few yogurts tonight. She's walked a lot today and was able to pass gas once but...

    Surgery update

She had a bad night. Very difficult to urinate and not much came out. She was up every hour walking to the bathroom and then feeling like she had to go. They are doing a bladder scan to see how full her bladder is now then they may have to do a straight catheter just to drain her bladder. It's...

    Surgery update

Thank you all SO much! I can't tell you how wonderful that makes me feel because every day in these past 2 months I wonder if I'm missing something, if I'm doing enough or asking enough questions. It means so much to hear it from moms who have been there. She's walked twice today and they took...

    Surgery update

DD had surgery last night and it went well! It took about two hours and she came out with no drains, bags or tubes! She does have a catheter but that should come out today. Her PICC line will stay to give her pain meds and TPN until she's able to eat more. They were able to do most of it...

    Surgery tips, advice, etc.???

Hi all! Surgery for S is set for the day after tomorrow (Monday). We've been in the hospital for a week now and S is MUCH better! She's still on antibiotics and Prednisone in addition to TPN. She's been saying she's starving for the last two days so that's a good sign. I was just wondering if...
