Kyoung, how did your son's surgery go? Praying for him and your family....please let us know! My daughter's surgery is tentatively scheduled for Monday. She is doing SO much better! Her belly is almost down to normal, she's going to the bathroom and the stuff coming out of her NG tube is clear...

    Prednisone with abscesses??

Kyoung I'm SO sorry to hear that!! (((HUGS))) to you and your son!! They did see one abscess is still there but smaller so they started S on Prednisone and TPN. Between the meds and the NG tube to decompress, they are trying to get her belly to go down. As soon as it goes down, they'll do...

    Prednisone with abscesses??

First of all, I'm sorry I keep making new threads but new stuff keeps coming up! S had her MRI tonight and the preliminary reading shows that the abscesses are most likely gone!!!!!! I know they've gotten smaller and smaller over the last 6-7 weeks (she was on Cipro, Flagyl and Diflucan for 3-4...

    Bloated, crampy, lethargic...what to do?

No perforation!!!! THANK GOD! Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!! She's still very bloated and slightly crampy and they are calling it a bowel obstruction. They're going to do an MRI today to see how dilated her bowel is and to see if the abscesses are gone. Depending on those results...

    Bloated, crampy, lethargic...what to do?

S threw up a few hours ago so GI said to go to hospital and they admitted her directly to peds floor. They took an X-ray and her whole bowel is dilated. There may be free air whic would mean perf so they have to do more X-rays. Then we'll go from there. Please please pray for her!!!

    Bloated, crampy, lethargic...what to do?

Thanks for that. I do remember wondering when things would get better for my son...such deja vu! Right now she's had two loading doses of Remicade (last loading dose will be January 5th then every 8 weeks). She's been taking Intuniv for a chronic motor tic disorder (anxiety/OCD) since July...

    Bloated, crampy, lethargic...what to do?

S is very bloated, crampy and lethargic. She's still not eating anything because of the continuous 24 hour NG feeding. When she does have a bowel movement it's a very small amount and not formed. I know from the MRI she had two weeks ago that her intestines are pretty dilated (they called it a...

    NG tube advice needed

First of all, a HUGE thank you for all the hugs and prayers! The info and advice I get when I come here is so helpful and means so much to me! My daughter (S) is home! She still has her PICC line and NG tube. She had to get a new NG placed two days ago so she's still not eating much and is...

In hospital for a month now...help!

Thank you all so much!!! She's not eating or drinking but they will maximize NG since it's in there and give her feeding a during the day too for now and she'll stay on IV fluids. I had it out with the ped on the floor because she said she thinks my daughter is trying to control her environment...

In hospital for a month now...help!

They have drained one abscess with Interventional Radiology. That one is collapsed but still shows up on imaging. They are getting smaller and smaller with each image but not going away. They wanted to start Remicade because with one drained and both getting smaller, they wanted to treat the...

In hospital for a month now...help!

So here's some answers haha: Where are the abscesses? What two placed does the fistula connect? They think she had a spontaneous mini-perforation and then the fistula and abscesses happened when her body repaired it. They don't think the fistula is connected to anything. Have you met with a...

In hospital for a month now...help!

My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed a month ago (my 16 year old son was diagnosed last year and had many hospital stays but is in remission now...yay!). She has two abscesses that are being stubborn with oral antibiotics, a fistula by those abscesses, and her recent (THIRD) MRI showed her...

    Daughter still in hospital-need advice

Thank you all for your support! It looks like the abscess that was drained is gone but the second one that wasn't able to be drained is still there. They switched her to oral antibiotics and will see how well she does with them. She also has to eat some food because she really isn't...

    Daughter still in hospital-need advice

First of all I want to thank everyone for your replies to my original post. I still haven't had any real opportunity to process that I now have two kids with Crohn's. My daughter is still in the hospital after 10 days. After switching from IV antibiotics to oral Augmentin, she spiked a fever so...

White count went down, sed rate went up

They haven't done any follow up scans yet. Her first scan a few days ago was "significant" and looked identical to her older brother's scan from last year when he has his fistula so based on that and her sed rate we have a diagnosis of Crohn's. They don't want to scope her with the mini tear but...

White count went down, sed rate went up

So my 14-year old daughter was just diagnosed (my older son was just diagnosed a year ago!) and she has a mini perf and abscess on the small intestine. Her white count a few days ago was 13.5 and today it's 9. Her sed rate was 33 and now it's 47. I'm glad the white count went down but why did...

Second child diagnosed within a year

I am just overwhelmed. As I sit in this hospital flashing back to last year when my son was diagnosed, I have all these new choices to make for my daughter. She has a mini perf and abscess in her small intestine so they want to start top down with biologics like they did with my son (who is...

Thanks for the info! I'll start looking at the links. It was THREE month follow up but six months since surgery (oops!) but GI said he doesn't need to see him for six months from now.

    Growth Delay

I took DS for his 6 month follow up appointment with his GI and all was great except that he hasn't grown at all. He's 15 1/2 years old and he's 5'5. Actually cording to his projected height (based on my height and my husband's) he should reach about 5'9". So he did a bone age xray and his age...
