    Happy freakin new year

so i just had fistula surgery on thursday. while the dr thinks that you can't really tell for a week if it's going to take, if all of the gas, diarrhea and mucus i've had going through my fistula hole today are any sign, it isn't looking good. so unless a new years miracle happens with my...

    Flap procedure advice

hey guys. pretty down today. had some more gas through the fistula hole yesterday and today had a little diarrhea and of course, some of it came through the wrong hole. i realize the dr said that i wouldn't really be able to tell for a week or so because of inflammation causing the sutures to...

    Flap procedure advice

just thought i'd give everyone an update: so i had the surgery on thursday morning. apparently everything went pretty smoothly. they decided to keep me overnight, though. i'm glad they did, because it turned out i couldn't pee on my own and they had to put a catheter in. there was swelling in...

After the procedure, does anyone know if all gas and drainage just automatically stops on the open end?

    To disclose or not disclose.

i agree with not disclosing. don't give someone a reason not to hire you. you can tell them after they hire you. it's nice to think that everyone judges on qualifications, but unfortunately, that is frequently not the case. if you don't have to disclose anything, don't. that includes age...

sawdust- do you think the liquid diet helped you heal faster? i don't think they intend to keep me any longer in the hospital than they have to. i'm not sure about the diet afterwards.

    Life isn't good.

i got lucky with the remicade. it started working almost immediately. i know others it can take a while to kick in? have you had any improvement at all? maybe humira would be a better fit?

    Flap procedure advice

i've never tried tramadol. i know percocet does absolutely nothing for me. the only decent one is hydrocodone. (is that vicodin?). i know i had most of the bottle left after my c-section. hopefully my high tolerance of pain will continue...

    Fistula after surgery and abscesses

cupcake - sorry to hear about your fistulas. they really suck, huh? i'm hoping since this is supposed to be a closing off procedure and not a seton that i'll get rid of the drainage. i am prepared for painful bowel movements though. yuck. i think i'll definitely stick with stool softeners, as...

    Flap procedure advice

i'm already going to be about 5 days overdue for the infusion anyway. i should be having pretty much about the same date. i've gone a little over before and it's been alright. it'll probably be fine. i'm just worried about infection, i guess. i haven't had any infection or abscess up to this...

    Flap procedure advice

hi all. haven't been here in a little while. i've been on remicade for the past year and have been doing relatively well, functioning in society and all  But, unfortunately the remicade only healed up a secondary branch of my fistula and not the original tract. sigh. as background, my...

suzy -- you should have that baby checked for food allergies! especially since it started with solid foods. we didn't realize our kid had milk and egg allergy til solids. the rashes really made me think that. when our kid eats eggs anywhere he touches it he breaks out in a rash, he throws it up...

sunshine - try not to be scared! once you get a few shots down you'll be a pro. i had allergy shots every week for 3 years as a kid, so i can attest that you will get used to them and it will be old hat soon enough.

cat- yeah, i know remi's an immune suppressor. i do tend to get sick a tad more often than i used to, but considering what i'm taking, i'm really surprised by how much i've been able to fight off. the last 2 times the hubby and kid have gotten sick i haven't. this time i just wasn't so lucky...

allie/cat - (ahaha, that was funny. alleycat. lol) anyhoo, i had acupuncture once to try to induce labor. it didn't work, but it was very relaxing and it didn't hurt at all. i say it's worth a try! i feel like all kinds of $hit. i have this horrrible head cold. i don't know where i got it. my...

dazz - i'm pretty sure smoking increases your cortisol which fights inflammation. however, you probably don't want to do it on a regular basis, because eventually it will probably mess up your adrenals. and all that other respiratory/cancer stuff. :shifty-t:

allie- hope you have a great trip! sunshine- glad to hear they'll be altering your treatment plan. while i still have my stupid fistula, the remicade has helped in a lot of other areas, and i can even eat mostly whatever i want and do normal things. it seems a little scary at first, but it's...
