Are you on an IBD specific diet? I want to help!

That's amazing! I'm a little apprehensive to give vegan a try just because I don't always have as much time to prepare things as im sure I'd need, and the idea of too much fiber scares me a little. However I'm sure there are ways to eat vegan and limit fiber intake harmoniously. I try to stay...

Anyone here on antibiotics current or past that uses probiotics with the abx? Just wondering about timing/effectiveness with the two

Recently developed C-diff growth - Looking for advice

Hey there, I'm recently diagnosed with severely active Crohn's, just released from the hospital earlier this week after my full Imuran dosage cause me to be one of the fortunate few that developed acute pancreatitis. While in hospital my initial stool sample tested positive for c-diff (which...

Combination Therapy - Remicade and Imuran

I'm so sorry to hear about your liver flare!! That sort of upper abd pain is so much worse than lower GI cramps (at least IMO) I'm happy to hear you're on the mend though!! Keep kicking butt and keep us updated!

    Imuran/Azathioprine/6-MP Support Group

Just be sure to listen to your body, it's a very potent medication and if it's giving you grief, call your NP. I don't mean to startle anyone but I just got out of the hospital because I'm one of the 2% that developed pancreatitis because of Aza. However, because I listened to the signals my...

Are you on an IBD specific diet? I want to help!

Hey Scl, I did receive a diagnosis (severely active CD), just failed my Imuran full dosage trial week, wound up in the hospital with pancreatitis and a C-diff overgrowth. On the mend now, eating relatively plain has helped quell symptoms, aside from bowel movement inconsistency I don't really...

    Imuran/Azathioprine/6-MP Support Group

It very well could be, sometimes our bodies are unable to process the medication properly and these effects surface. Have you done your one week blood work for aza? I'd follow up with your nurse practitioner and see if she can shed some light on the situation. I hope you feel better soon!

Combination Therapy - Remicade and Imuran

I was told 2 in 100,000 to 6 in 100,000, by my GI two weeks ago, I'm 25, very newly diagnosed and was assigned combination immunosuppressant/biologic treatment off the bat. Hope all is well and treatment improves!!

Don't know how to be "normal" or "not sick" anymore??

Man, I was in tears before the end of the first paragraph. Thank you kindly for your bravery and sharing your story with us. I come on here often after work at night when my nerves and anxiety are ramped up and I'm mentally overwhelmed/convinced I'm dying. Anxiety is relatively new to me, I...

Need advice for working with flare ups

Diggity, I know the stress. I'm the executive sous chef at a little-ish french brasserie in downtown Calgary. It's hot, it's hostile, I'm on my feet non-stop for 10-12 hours a day minimum 5-6 days a week. I often wonder if I'm going to be able to keep it up (just diagnosed 2 weeks ago), luckily...

Can confirm We're a mighty handsome bunch aren't we? I enjoy binge - eating white rice, mostly in terribly mild butter chicken form. :drink:

    Diagnosis finally!!

Thank you both! Attitude is something that took me a bit to develop, but really, what other option do we have? :) I'll keep you posted, I've yet to complete the trial period of Imuran/ JUST finished the preliminary testing allowing me to start Remicade but nonetheless, we're making progress...

    Diagnosis finally!!

After a few short months of waiting (Thank god for our GI team in Calgary I feel extremely lucky), tossing and turning at night, breaking down at work with anxiety, and worrying the ever-living daylights out of my girlfriend, I was finally diagnosed with severely active Crohn's disease yesterday...

    Pales diet

I'm curious about it's effectiveness, namely because fibre is such a big scary thing for a lot of us. Did you have to go through a transition phase, i.e. a liquid diet to give your intestines a break before changing over to being able to digest things like whole vegetables, nuts, seeds, red...

Should I go to the hospital or call my doctor?

I know the feeling and I hate the guessing game. I've always put the consideration of inconveniencing others ahead of my own necessity and up until Christmas last year I never paid for it. I don't do that anymore, listen to your body, if it's saying 'oh ****' take the time for yourself :)

Are you on an IBD specific diet? I want to help!

I've always had a soft spot for vegetables and fruits especially in the summer time but the further back I think on how my symptoms sort of progressed or evolved the more I realize that vegetables haven't always agreed with me either. Thank you for taking the time to read this, hopefully it...

Are you on an IBD specific diet? I want to help!

Excellent! I love tuna but I could see it getting dreary with olive oil. Feel free to drop me a line regarding it whenever! I'm excited to collaborate on the subject!
