    Are there common early symptoms?

Mine started after getting promoted to a stressful position at work. I was working all the time and exhausted. I had some pain and blood only like once or twice when I went to the bathroom. Then I started having pain after eating...felt like I had eaten glass or knives! Called the nurse she...

First GI doc visit did not go well.

Don't get caught up on the ASCA test result. Mine came out negative and I definitely have Crohns. A colonoscopy is a standard test so I don't find it odd that he wants to do it. Sounds like maybe his bedside manner isn't great, he may still be a great doctor. This disease is frustrating before...

    How's Your Blood Pressure?

Mine is always low...last three were 117/59, 94/58, and 108/54.

    What is remission?

I have been in remission for a few years. All of my ulcers are gone according to latest colonoscopy (I have scars where many of them were), minimal symptoms, minimal pain if any most days, all blood work is normal. I had a colonoscopy to diagnose disease and then one to confirm remission. I...

How do Americans pay for their Crohn's healthcare?

I had insurance through my employer that was about $600/month. After I was laid off I had to convert to an individual plan since my husbands employer does not provide an insurance option that was good. We now pay about $700/month for insurance with less coverage than the employer plan (that is...

    Exercise and diarrhea

Do you just pause the workout and go...then resume? Or should I take that as my body saying "that's enough of a workout for today" This disease makes me question everything sometimes...so paranoid about throwing myself into a flare.

    Exercise and diarrhea

The past few weeks I have been really trying to stay active. I was laid off from my job a few months ago and found myself struggling with weight and joint stiffness due to inactivity...my job was pretty active and you were on your feet all day. I do not do any strenuous exercising. Usually...

How did you regain strength after a bad flare?

My dr had me on ensure 3 times a day plus regular meals to gain weight. I was anemic as well and took iron supplements. Beyond that just rested when needed and slowly got better. Figuring out what foods are good and bad for you helps so you can avoid the ones that make you feel worse.

Questions about remission for a newly diagnosed peron.

I am in remission as well and still have issues with some foods or have an off day here and there.

Were you an adventurous eater or not?

I was and still am an adventurous eater...but with some caution. I pretty much like everything, my husband is the picky eater, and will try almost anything. I am cautious in that I steer clear of spicy things (if it burns going in, it burns coming back out) and it depends on how I'm feeling that...

    Joints? Aching? Ugh!

I had a friend who had arthritis issues in her hands and found that dairy and gluten made it worse.

    Bye, bye alcohol

No peppermint tea, just chamomile and I have some green tea. I was surprised about the whole exercise thing too, but the article did say low impact, exercise on an empty stomach, for 30 min or less and no lying down. I can't exercise too soon after eating or it sends me to the bathroom anyway so...

    Bye, bye alcohol

So I feel a bit better today, but still having heartburn issues and had a terrible time sleeping last night. Tea seems to help a bit and been having to take an antacid after eating anything. Stools are semi solid, but smell foul! Frequency has gone down since yesterday so that's good too. Did an...

    Bye, bye alcohol

I agree...projectile vomiting no thank you! I fight vomit to the bitter end too, I hate the way it feels! It would probably be better to just let it happen. I went and got some chamomile tea and some more antacids so I should be good for the night. Hopefully all will be normal again tomorrow.

    Bye, bye alcohol

Yikes! I am hoping I will be better in a few days, I do feel better each day...just seems like too long for just a hangover.

    Bye, bye alcohol

I just want to vent a little about my own dumb mistake over the weekend. Saturday my husband and I went out with friends to a local bar. I don't drink very often, but I do have a beer now and then. Saturday I was feeling good and we ordered beer. I felt good and drank a couple more...well...

    Budesonide and remission

I was on Entocort which did help me get into remission, but even in remission I still take meds. My GI said I will minimally need to take maintenance meds always, for the rest of my life. Kind of a bummer, but better than being in a flare always. My understanding is the meds I am on now just...

    Brain Fog

If your vitamin levels are ok the only other things I can think of that might cause the brain fog are stress and lack of sleep. If I'm tired and/or hungry I can't think straight...add stress to the mix and I'm a mess.

    What foods do you miss?

Ice cream! I don't crave it that often, but sometimes it looks sooo yummy. Tried a few spoonfuls a month or so ago...not good. :poo:
