Any success only using one of the 5 ASA drugs?

Daniel has been on Pentasa since DX September 2010 at age 11. He was also on Prednisone & Flagyl then too. His first 9 months were really hard as he kept getting strep throat & c-diff. But once we got through all that & got him started on a probiotic he has been much better. The only thing he...

    New and frustrated

Hi Sheryl, I haven't been able to read all that is written here. But my Daniel also has mild CD. They hit him with the same meds your Daniel is on except he took the prednisone. It took about a year with some twists to get him straightened out. He went through much as what your son is...

    Gummy vitamin alternatives?

There is a line called Vitafusion I use but they are adult vitamins. It has a great calcium vitamin D gummy. I know they have a gummy fish oil that tastes pretty good. I am not sure what they have in the way of kids Vits. Daniel has taken them & likes them. On the bottle for the Calcium it...

How old was your little one when diagnosed?

Daniel was DX age 11 September 2010. I can't remember how many years of running to the bathroom after eating. But it was just several months prior he had bleeding. That started the whole process of getting to the DX.

Here is my son Ethan's news story.

Wonderful job taking the time to do this story & being so busy with a little one! Doubly so when they are sick too. He is such a cutie. Those blood tests are no fun! Great news piece for awareness!

    Pentasa Opinions

Kathy, it does sound like your in another ball park so to speak. Crohns effects are so veriable & far reaching at so many different levels. Daniel is in remission so I think it does keep him there. My oldest son who also has Crohns takes Asacol (sp) which is the same med but a slower delivery...

    Pentasa Opinions

Kathy the only spot they saw when they did his one & only top to bottom scope was about 3 inches at the end of the Ileum just before the Cecum valve. Because this was the only part of his intestines involved made it a mild case. Although the intestine was pretty sick. He also had issues with...

    Pentasa Opinions

As you can see this is the drug Daniel has been on since his DX. I know it was a good 2 months till Daniels blood levels were down almost to normal. It was a combination of the Pentasa, Flagyl, & prednisone that help to get him there. But the only thing that he is on now is the Pentasa. I know...

    Well Boo!

Julie I totally agree with Kathy!!! You have to write these down! "Claires humorous GI Journal"!!! I told Daniel about her quotes. Daniel likes to be the class clown & make people laugh! He totally loved her humor! Even though she probably isn't intending all we are getting out of it! That's...

Dusty you beat me to the punch! Good going! She is right they have Dr's on call! That's why the Doc's get paid big bucks! I would consider this a time you need to call the GI ASAP! Shingles is nothing to mess around with. You might even mention them bringing an infectious disease Dr. in on this...
