    Starting LDN!

Update: It's been a few days since I've lowered my dose of omeprazole -- down to 20mg from 40mg. No perceived difference as of yet, and I've had some fairly acidic/spicy foods in the past couple of days. I wonder if the LDN is helping to keep my duodenal problems at bay...

    In shock

Hey there Lissa! I was diagnosed with a mild case last year, although it didn't feel mild to me at the time and I was really upset by the diagnosis. However, I'm doing well right now, and as soon as you get things dialed in, I'm sure you will too! Just don't lose hope if the first thing you...

For the newbies -- an update :)

Thanks everyone!! You all are the best. And really, the focus here shouldn't be "Yay Jesse," or anything like that -- I just want to give a little back, you know? (Besides, everyone has a birthday... I just realized that it was kind of a milestone of sorts.) When I first started coming onto...

For the newbies -- an update :)

Today is my birthday. And it's been a good one! You might be wondering: "Why is this guy telling us about his birthday?" I'm telling you this because last year was a very different story. I had been diagnosed with Crohn's two months prior, I was still flaring, and I was still trying to...

    Starting LDN!

Cool -- well, at least it's good to know that my desire to cut down on omeprazole isn't off base! My GI was good enough to re-write the prescription so it says "20mg twice per day," instead of "40mg daily" -- that way, I'll be getting smaller pills in an effort to try cutting down on it and...

    Starting LDN!

2000IU, in the morning. It seemed to work the last time, when I was really sticking to it. Also, it was summer, so I made somewhat of a point to get some sun. But yeah, when I was first tested I was at something like 17, so the supplements definitely helped!

    Starting LDN!

Aaaaaaaaannnnd... my vitamin D levels have dropped. I'm at 34 -- I was at 50+ when last checked during the summer. I guess it's time to stop being so lax about taking my vitamins daily. (FWIW, I am religious about taking my meds... just tend to run late getting out the door in the morning and...

    My Quest for LDN

Yep. 30 is considered the low end of "normal," officially, but I think the general consensus is that people should be shooting for a minimum of 50, ideally.

    Starting LDN!

I guess that's why I've been trying to get all of my coworkers to have arm-wrestling contests with me lately. AM I RIGHT, BROS?! YEAHHHHHH!!! WOOOOOOOO!!! ;)

    Starting LDN!

Could be his age and hormonal changes... which is its own set of challenges. ;) Glad to hear it's working so well!!

    Starting LDN!

Has it been a slow improvement over time beyond the 3-month mark for Jack? (Bumps in the road aside, of course.)

    Starting LDN!

Alright folks! Sounds like I'm doing alright -- went to my GI yesterday, and things are looking good! LDN seems to be working for me (although I was pretty OK to start with), and I'm staying on the Pentasa for now. Might try cutting down on the omeprazole. Anyways, I got some of my test...

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Support Group

Same here -- started at 4.5mg right off the bat. I've heard of people starting at lower doses and working their way up, though.

Rifaximin Resistance in Escherichia coli Associated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Correlates with Prior Rifaximin Use, Mutations in rpoB,

Good call. I know that it's a bad idea in general to take antibiotics often, as it can often result in resistance. However, my course of Rifaximin was fairly short (2 weeks), and I would be hesitant to try a second course in rapid succession. Again, thanks for the link and the info!!

Rifaximin Resistance in Escherichia coli Associated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Correlates with Prior Rifaximin Use, Mutations in rpoB,

Hey there kiny -- as someone who has taken a short course of Rifaximin before, should these findings dissuade me from trying it again if I feel like a flare is coming back on? It's been quite a while since I last took it, and from what I recall it helped at least a little. Not sure if it'll be...

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Support Group

I wish I could offer some insight here, as I'm still unclear on the dosing thing. 4.5mg seems to work for me thus far, but at 200 pounds, I'm guessing that I'm probably twice your weight. I'm interested to hear from other people on this.
