    Yeah I guess I have to realise that I am getting to the point where there is no alternative, I have dropped from 14 1/2 stone to 13 over 3 years and being 6 foot 3 tall 14 stone was thin. Guess I'm going to starve to death if I don't have the surgery. RR

    Fistula...possibly but would that not show on my recent MRI scan? surely they check crohn's patients for all those kinds of things when they scan their strictures...

    craiggus.. I'd be interested if you could post your meds and foods and what you do for travelling. I am facing resection of two strictures in the ileum and they may well take the valve al bit of the colon- so I am petrified of swapping C and pain for Diarrhea. thanks

    And yes the surgeon said he has done hundreds of these and after first resection you should not have any permanent D problem. hope you are continuing to improve and wound healing ok now.

    jess - your question about active crohn's....well i guess they are not sure..if i have vistually zero inlamation so am in remission all they can see on a scan is what is fibrotic ie thick walled..i guess that is why he wont commit to saving the valve as he will only beable to tell what is...
