    Better sleep after surgery

Yeah, my wife has a favourite Aunt who had GBlddr out many months ago and she cant visit us because she can't get out the house before mid day due to the D. Obviously I should not be concerned about the D - it should pass in a couple of weeks.

    Strictures and osmotics

when i told the surgeon i was concerned about permanent D if i loose the valve he said that has never happened and he has been doing these a long time. I guess it is back to what has been said before you tend to get people in need here. people who have a good outcome are not on here for long....

    Better sleep after surgery

I have been waking at 4 or 5 am since my first symptoms 4 years ago and never get back to sleep- just lie there feeling exhausted, trying to rest and not disturb my partner. Anyone had experienced significantly improved sleep after surgery? I assume bowel starts doing stuff a couple of hours...

How do you face a first surgery?

How do you cope with the anxiety, the uncertainty of outcome and the fear of pain.

    Surgery Options

I think the key determinant on balloons is if the strictures are fibrotic..they should be able to tell this from the wall thickness on an mri scan. Then again maybe an endoscopy would be worth a try first even if they cannot use a balloon to help them know whats going on prior to surgery.

    Waiting to see surgeon

    A pointless post

NOT POINTLESS. There are I am sure many of us here who have at some stage felt as you do. It does pass. Things do get better. Sometimes you look back and wonder how you get through- but you did. It sounds like you need to be impressing upon your doctors just how much you are suffering...

    Waiting to see surgeon

Well it has taken more than 6 weeks since I saw the Gastro Consultant but I finally have an appointment with surgeon in 2 days time. I have been referred for resection of 2 strictures in the ileum - about 10cm above the valve. Can anyone advise what questions I should ask? Obviously I would...

    Strictures and osmotics

Laparoscopic! Maybe it would be worth going through a colonoscopy to know before what they thought would have to come out. My lower stricture is 9/10cm above the valve so I was hoping to keep it. just resting - do you think you got complications by not resting enough/going to work to soon?

    Strictures and osmotics

jESSpEPER Pleased to hear your D has all gone away. It does seems to vary between different people. Can I ask roughly your age - I am in late 50's and worried if I lost valve that things would never adjust.

    Strictures and osmotics

Thanks for that Jess...so you would not say the D is restricting you atall then.? or has it gone completely. I am very nervous of ending up more restricted than I am now - though as you say probably better D than the pain of C.

IBD nurses have phoned me twice asking me to do a blood test

If you already know scope results blood test is unlikely to show anything else unless you are overly supressed on meds... anxiety - yes I understand - I had disc surgery in 2010- like you I was lucky it was emergency - did not know I would be surgery when I woke up that morning. Then you are...

IBD nurses have phoned me twice asking me to do a blood test

elanor - cant thank you enough for those words.. on your original blood test question - for me they are usually just checking inflamtion levels and whether your immune system is too supressed if you are on an immune suppressant..
