    6MP and appetite

Her weight has gotten over the 120 mark while on steroids last winter (up to 125), and she seems to be staying over 120 now (but that may drop if she can't eat), menstruating fairly regularly, stools down to 2-3 a day. Mostly not having abdominal pain too much. Her loose joints seem to be more...

    6MP and appetite

Do you mean the 6MP? I might be able to, or possibly switch it to evening...

We have a diagnosis! (And I'm not crazy!)

It helps to have docs interested in helping. I'm sorry it has to be long term steroids that be the thing that helps, but I'm glad something helps.

    And, so it's come.....Surgery.

I'm sorry to heAr it, but IT Is in boys are not common, so I see where they're coming from.

    6MP and appetite

Blood work normal in June. No fecal calprotectin done since November/December when it was elevated but also had c.diff at same sample. Belly pain is mild. Sometimes (rarely, and I'm shocked) she eats normally, then won't eat much for a few days. I don't think she has symptoms of nausea or...

    Youngest daughter in a flare

I'm so sorry, Kim. It's terrible news.

    6MP and appetite

Jae's 6MP was increased last December. Since then she has had a lack of appetite that made her very picky. Now she doesn't want to eat anything - not because of pain, but because nothing looks good to her. I read that mercaptopurine can take away your appetite. Has anyone else experienced this?

Parents of Pre-Teens and Teens with IBD

I am in the middle of this with my daughter as well. We will homeschool this year, but I know it isn't the ideal answer. I wish I had a perfect answer for you.

    PMS vs. flare?

My daughter gets a lot of right lower quadrant abdominal pain. It is hard to tell what's what, especially as she gets diarrhea and cramping with menses also.

Yeah, at this point I don't know what is causing all of Jae's issues. First you look at her symptoms then they led to diagnoses of individual problems. Then she got so many individual diagnoses I started thinking that one person doesn't just develop so many random issues. Then I tried to put...

She was failure to thrive, had chronic diarrhea and didn't have a lick of puberty at age 13, plus knee pain. The GI had a high index of suspicion going into the colonoscopy, which was inconclusive, so she had a pill cam which showed ulcerations throughout her GI tract.

Don't you wish there was such a thing as pediatric internal medicine specialists? My daughter usually has normal routine labs and her Crohn's was missed for 12 years. My initial thoughts on your kids: celiac, Crohn's, Ehler Danlos or other connective tissue disorders. My daughters, who both...

Wow, I was thinking the rheumatologist would do a little more searching to figure things out. Has he/they had an elevated crp or sed rate? Any stool changes, blood in stool, diarrhea? My daughter has drooling with her seizures, but not otherwise. How about parathyroid tests?

Sounds like a crazy amount of specific symptoms that one would think could be figured out easy enough... I'm sorry it isn't more clear...

Burst of prednisone for sacroiliitis vs chiropractor

J's rheumatologist wants her to do a burst of prednisone for her SI pain she's had for a week. She was on prednisone last winter for 2 months, and that was followed by serious depression issues that she still struggles with. She hurt her back playing soccer last weekend and it has been about a...

    10 days with fevers

I love your ID doc! I am disappointed in your PCP and GI! What kind of window do you have to be late on the Remicade? Is he having pain or feeling poorly?

    Coeliac disease with Crohn's.

My daughter is gluten intolerant but doesn't have celiac. It causes problems nonetheless. I hope they can get your daughter back on track quickly.
