    Frustration

Hi CaitiesMom! I really hope Caitie finds relief soon (and you do too!). The dx process is very frustrating. When I feel a flare coming on, I go on a liquid diet. Sometimes I am lucky and a few days will do the trick and sometimes it takes a few weeks. I also eat a low residue diet after...

    Grrrr

Good morning Monkey, First I have to tell you that I smile everytime you post. Monkey is my daughter's nickname. She is off and about with her career and I only get to see my Monkey a few days every year. I have absolutely no sage wisdom to throw your way. I just have hugs and nods of...

TPN at home - anyone been on it (total Parenteral Nutrition)

I had TPN while in the hospital. I improved and did not have to come home with it. TPN gives the gut a rest and that is good for Crohn's. The nutrition will make you feel better. The symptoms of Crohn's will quieten down. At least, this is what it did for me. I know that when it was...

    Low dose naltexone

LDN has made a tremendous difference for me. I have been taking it for 3 months. I buy 50mg tablets from India and disolve them in 50ml of distilled water. I was very hesitant to try it but I am so glad I did. I do not have a doctor that will prescribe it. I am doing it on my own. Wendy

What to pack for the hospital

I took my sound machine. The staff would drop in to listen to the ocean. It helps drown out all of beeps and bangs! Makeup! Mints or hard candies, bottom cream, face care items, mani/pedi kit, and a blanket or throw.

    Question for the ladies

Have they ruled out a fistula? I have/had endemetriosis and Crohn's. My current GI says I probably (even after hysterectomy) still have some endemetriosis issues. He theorizes that the 2 are connected in some way but stresses it is only a theory. I had 6 months of infection before my...

    Post surgery

:thumleft:The G&T will keep your "spirits" up! On the smoking thing- I concur. I flared when I stopped. Been great since I started back. Nicotine is good for the bleeding. I do have an electronic cig. that I use sometimes. Well, at my desk, when the 'gators are biting. Wendy

    Update on the Holistic Route

Want to know a funny... In 2007 I was admitted to ICU with anemia. Long story short, I have been anemic my whole life (the docs said you are okay just borderline) and it finally caught up with me. My docs stood in my room and said "Your diet is doing this to you." My diet was organic, whole...

Out of the mouths of babes....

Dexky- You can put a few drops in an ounce of water and rinse with it. Make sure to "hold" it in your mouth for a few minutes. This method is not as effective but it maybe easier on the tongue! Wendy

Out of the mouths of babes....

Julie, Oil of Oregano (you want to get wild harvested - the brand I use is Oreganol). Rub a drop or two on the place. This is a natural antibiotic. This stuff is hot so she may need to rinse her mouth after a few minutes. The longer she can go without rinsing, the better. The heat will...

Out of the mouths of babes....

Julie- So glad it is resolving and hopefully gone now. A pain in the mouth is not any fun at all. I have one of my "hippy freak" (that is what my precious grown children call me) tricks that helps with mouth irritations. It has really helped me and my son. If it happens again or she gets a...

    Post surgery

Von, I did alright alone for short periods of time. My hubby works for himself so he dropped by during the day. My sons live close enough that they took over if the hubby could not. The first couple of days, you really should have someone with you. Fixing meals can be a challenge. Your body...

    Crohn's clustered by community

Me... I grew up in a rural area (farmland for miles and miles and miles). Not many people but a woman I grew up with (same age) had Crohn's. Something to think about. Oh and my aunt has some IBD. Not officially diagnosed yet.

    LDN questions

Like Dan I am not on any prescribed medicine or OTC. I only take natural supplements and of course, LDN (not prescribed). I did notice an improvement in the first week. I am in remission. The only prescribed drug I took was 6MP (to appease my family). It nearly killed me. I have always...
