    Seton drain questions

Okay good to know this all seems pretty standard! Looking forward to feeling better soon. Oh and one other thing- when I go to the bathroom it seems to come out both my butt AND the seton and it HURTS when it comes out the seton. Please tell me this gets better! Is there anything I can do for it?

    Seton drain questions

A week ago I was in the hospital for a perianal abscess. They drained it and put in a seton drain. Here are my questions: 1. Is it normal for it still to hurt real bad? It doesn't hurt if I'm just laying down (finally!) but I can't really walk at all and when I go to the bathroom it is...

Fistula and meds- Feeling awful- help please!

So after a month long severe flare (after years of mild, manageable crohns,) I just spent five days in the hospital. They discovered an abscess near my rectum the size of an egg. They put in two rubber seton drains. I was on iv prednisone, levaquin, and flagyl. They sent me home yesterday and...

    Remicade necessary for abscess/fistula? Scared...

Thank you for your advice! They are actually doing it here at the hospital where I have been staying since the surgery. The doctor wants me to still be on the iv steroids as extra precaution against a reaction. I will be sure to drink lots of fluids and great idea about the nap! I will let you...

    Remicade necessary for abscess/fistula? Scared...

Thank you all for the encouragement! I'm starting the remicade tomorrow and going home afterwards. Nervous but excited to feel better!

    Remicade necessary for abscess/fistula? Scared...

Thanks for y'all's help! That encourages me. It's just a lot to take in after doing so well for so long- but it's good to hear the biologics aren't as scary as they seem. Ocean that's a good point about coming off of it if I decide to once the fistula heals. My doctor has been saying remicade is...

    Remicade necessary for abscess/fistula? Scared...

I have had a flare for the past month. Was on prednisone but it wasn't cutting the rectal inflammation. Had terrible, excruciating butt pain. Finally went to the ER and they discovered an abscess the size of an egg (with accompanying fistula) right next to my rectum. They drained it and now I...

    Prednisone not working- scared :(

I haven't ever been on Imuran. I was on Pentasa when I was first diagnosed and I don't really know if it made a difference. The doctor prescribed me Canasa but I just can't handle using a suppository right now since the fissures hurt so bad. Imuran is pretty much like 6mp right? Did you like...

    Prednisone not working- scared :(

Thanks for your reply! That's really interesting that you experienced the same thing. I definitely felt my best while pregnant- wish it had lasted! Did you have any options besides Humira? Like Remicade? Why did you choose Humira and what was the final straw in deciding the prednisone wasn't...

    Prednisone not working- scared :(

Also I'm very confused and overwhelmed about what else to be doing in addition to the prednisone. I had been gluten free/low sugar/no dairy except cultured dairy/organic for a long time. Like I said, I go to acupuncture and I take garden of life vitamins and probiotics. I also take fish oil. Now...

    Prednisone not working- scared :(

So I have been in a flare for a little over a month now. I had been in remission for many years with a few bumps in the road here and there, managing with diet and supplements and acupuncture but off of all meds. I have a nine month old and I believe the tiredness sent me into this one. I admit...

Been on prednisone a week- fissures, urgency- advice please!

So I have been in a flare for about a month after four years of basic remission (due to diet changes and supplements.) the flare came on pretty quickly. Tried to treat it conservatively with diet and supplements (scd/paleo, probiotics, etc.) but the flare progressed. GI put me on Uceris- didn't...

    Throat pain and starting prednisone

Thanks for your reply! I had my tonsils out when I was 3 so it shouldn't be tonsillitis. I am going to call my GP to see if they can swab me for strep. When I woke up this morning it's getting very difficult to swallow at all- I'm getting kind of nervous! That's good to hear that the prednisone...

    Throat pain and starting prednisone

I was diagnosed in 2006 with mild to moderate Crohn's in two spots in my large intestine. Was prescribed Pentasa and Entocort. Managed alright for a few years with some symptoms here and there and flare ups of Crohns Arthritis. Went gluten free, among other things, and got off meds. Have felt...

Starting scd during flare after remission

Thanks for your reply! Perhaps I will try paleo. I just can't fathom how meats wouldn't bother me right now, though it seems everything bothers me so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try! Regarding springtime flares- have you tried taking allergy meds for that? If so, do you notice a difference...

Starting scd during flare after remission

I'm new and this is my second post. I got diagnosed with crohns when I was 16. Am 23 now. Was put on pentasa and entocort. Had flares on and off and managed with medrol dose pack and (once) 20mg of prednisone. Went gluten free during college while not in a flare but not exactly in remission and...

Experience with uceris for acute flare after remission

Also, should add the timeline of all this. I started getting sick about three weeks ago. Started the Entocort two weeks ago. Finished the medrol dose pack today. Switched from entocort to uceris yesterday.

Experience with uceris for acute flare after remission

Hi! I just joined today. I was diagnosed with Crohn's (two spots all in the large intestine) when I was 16 (though I had symptoms years earlier) and I'm 23 now. I was originally put on Pentasa and Entocort. I did okay. Had a few flares (always in fall or spring, worse in spring) and they were...
