    Crohns with very little diarrhoea

Not just you. I hardly ever had diarrhoea; occasional loose stools but mostly I suffered from constipation. Even when I ultimately developed a stricture I still didn't get much. And yes my bowels would sound like a victorian drainage system. I scoured every corner of the internet for...

    Nervous about surgery

I had the same surgery. I had 5 days in hospital - went in Monday morning, left Friday evening. I spent the next week lazing around at home; went for a few walks but you don't realise just how weak and tired you are until you do. Then the following week I started doing some work at home, dared...

No more entorcort for me starting today:)

Steroids will stop the inflammation, but won't treat the cause. So the question is whether whatever caused it happens again.

    Eye problems

Just put this in the other thread, but last year I saw an opthamologist due to having raised pressures in my eyes and not doing great at the field of vision test. My father has glaucoma so I'm at high risk of this. I also have a stigmatism and wear glasses for that, though I can see fairly well...

    Watery eyes

Yes I have this problem from time to time, and it was a lot worse when my Crohns was worse. Sometimes my eyes would suddenly get really sore and watery and I really could do nothing other than close my eyes and wait for it to go away. I saw an opthamologist last year because I had slightly...

    Off the shelf meds

Yes the pink Gaviscon got me through some difficult times. Especially with the nighttime acid reflux. Fortunately I don't have to do that anymore.

    Colonoscopy Tomorrow!!

Good luck. It's not so bad. I actually quite like the lemon flavoured prep we get here.

    Helping to relax

The first one I found sounded like I was about to be abducted by aliens. Not so relaxing. Some of the others are good though. I find listening with music helps me enormously with anxiety, but I need to really listen; i.e. sit or lie down with my eyes closed and pay attention to every note and...

    Stricture and diet

I eat anything and everything, pretty much. But then when I did have a stricture I didn't avoid things particularly, though I did work out that anything fatty or spicy was a bad idea. And at the end I avoided fibre and that helped the symptoms. If you have a stricture then it takes longer for...

Eagles founder, Glenn Frey passed away at 67

Lemmy, Bowie and Glenn Fry would certainly be something. Very sad.

Can a small bowel resection can cause chronic inflammation?

This is pretty much where I am too. The colonoscopy last year showed some active inflammation returning, and I was expecting to start Aza but my symptoms remain mild and a course of Budesonide did seem to improve things. The consultant said it wasn't clear if I needed the treatment or not, so I...

    Ultrasound scan

Good old NHS. My GP sent me for an ultrasound which I had about a week later. But that was when they were treating it as cancer.

My first surgery! she wants to leave one

I had an ECG in the pre-op assessment. Don't know if that's normal, but it was good to know my heart is working okay.:D Plus the nurse talked through what I'd have to do before and after surgery, and what I should bring to hospital - that sort of thing. Hope it all goes well.

    No diagnosis-focal active ileitis

IBS is medical speak for "we don't know". Probably most cases are undiagnosed something else: for me it was Crohn's; a lot are SIBO, a lot are food intolerance, and probably microscopic Colitis (i.e. inflammation that's too small to be seen without a biopsy) explains a lot too. I was told it...

    No diagnosis-focal active ileitis

I had a CT scan and they diagnosed me after that. But I already had a stricture after 20 years of thinking it was IBS. Is your doctor confusing IBS and IBD? IBS shouldn't cause weight-loss.

    No diagnosis-focal active ileitis

What Mandy said. Ileitis is obviously inflammation of the Ileum and that's the most common place you find Crohn's. 'chronic inflammation or resolving infection'is what my first colonoscopy report said.

    Sublingual B-12 results

Taking something daily has got to be a lot better than a big dose every now and again, and we only get B12 every 3 months. Sounds like a lot of Vitamin D.

    The exhaustion is a killer

I always seem to fall asleep early afternoon. Usually I'm okay in the morning, then after lunch it hits me and I'm useless for a couple of hours; can barely keep my eyes open. Then I wake up again and feel fine through the evening. Weird. If I have work to do I know my best chance is to do it in...

    Desserts for Crohn's?

Actually most of us would use "pudding" to mean dessert. I think what you describe is a very old-fashioned usage, perhaps Victorian era. We'd call it a sponge or a suet (steak and kidney in a pudding sounds revolting). I ate tinned fruit whilst I was waiting for surgery at the urging of a...

    Colonoscopy Booked - Worried!

The stuff we get is only one large glass but they tell you to drink lots of water as well; one litre per hour if I remember correctly. It'll help it work and it's important that you don't get dehydrated. You'll get diarrhoea an hour or two after the dose and again after you take the second...
