Antibodies to Remicade- are kids more likely than adults to develop them?

I'm almost certain it was the Prometheus test (http://www.nestlehealthscience.com/newsroom/press-releases/Prometheus-launches-new-monitoring-test-to-help-guide-inflammatory-bowel-disease-management). There is only one lab in my area that does it and has the kit, they had to FedEx it to California.

Antibodies to Remicade- are kids more likely than adults to develop them?

I haven't heard of any but I was told at the University of Michigan that Remicade is their preferred treatment for kids under 18. My son built-up anti-bodies. UofM had added steroids to his infusions to help prevent the antibodies but, they didn't do much good. After we switched doctors and...

Timing of blood work with Remicade

My son's blood work is also done with the same needle as his infusions. The same IV can be used for multiple purposes. When he needed MREs we did it on the same day as the infusion because it meant only one needle poke. It made for a very long day but it was worth it to him. He also was very...

    Methotrexate question

My 12 year old son has been on Methotrexate for several months. I never thought about it before but he used to be pretty constipated but is pretty regular now with the occasional instances of diarrhea, but never as often as 12 times a day. The side effect I think he is experiencing from it is...

7 year old blood test positive for Crohns, can't get into Peds GI for months

My son started out at Motts. They are supposed to be very good for diagnosing but, we saw a GI specialist first, not a nurse practitioner. Maybe it has to do with the way your pediatrician is communicating and handling things and/or the stage of the Crohn's. Mott's facilities are excellent...

    Advice on Allergy Meds?

It was also thought be be pink-eye the year before but it hadn't been as bad. Similarly, Nick's Erythema Nodosum was diagnosed as cellulitis the first time. The second time the urgent care doctor also diagnosed it as cellulitis but, when it didn't get better with antibiotics we went back to...

    Advice on Allergy Meds?

My son's biggest issue was his eyes. At first, it was thought that it was a bad case of pink-eye, that didn't seem to get better with the prescription anti-bacterial eye drops, until my Dad saw Nick and saw the similarities to his own allergies. So, we made another trip to one of the...

    Advice on Allergy Meds?

My son has grass allergies that hit him every June. We tried Zyrtec but it didn't do the trick for him. For him, Claritin has really helped.

    School

Thank you all for your advice and support. Amy, I'm so sorry your son has had to go through that. It sounds like you are doing a good job of standing-up for him and doing what you know is best. When I talked to our family counselor about my concerns, she recommended that I switch him to an...

*SERIOUS VENT WARNING* Okay, teacher, first you try to claim that my son's stomach cramps, exhaustion, joint pain, vomiting, and other Crohn's symptoms are all in his head (even after I tried to explain to you that he has been diagnosed with moderate to severe Crohn's and everything that...
