Insurance and provincial won't cover anything except in BC and Alberta , and insurance won't cover therapy. My husband specialist is rather " special! At his last appointment he ate his luch the whole time my hubby was there, it was so funny. I guess I can get him to talk to him, but as he's an...

Hubby thinks middle daughter has crohns

Our biggest hurdle is the GI we saw, he says she can't have crohns as she is female young and half chinese, the fact her chinese dad has crohns according to him is a million to one chance. The man is an idiot, my eldest had whole bunch of issues, celiac was questioned, he said no celiac gives...

Hubby thinks middle daughter has crohns

My middle child has just turned 4. She's had.gastro issues her whole life. Explosive diapers, we are talking head to toe every time. They got worse, she became horrifically constipated, so we cut out gluten as her sis was gluten intolerant and it made a difference, but her tummy was not 100%...

Some improvement but may need surgery

You should definitely ask about dilation and surgery as a last resort. My husband had a striture, the left him on TPN for month and tried to dilate. They didn't want to operate on an area that was already not happy! Unfortunately a second doc took over his case, pushed gor surgery and he had a...

    Vaccine question

Ask the doctor for the vaccine names, then you can check with the manufacturers, or ask the nurse if there is one at your surgery. If there is a travel clinic near you I would go there over the doctors office. They will know everything about the shots. They will also know if their are any...

    C's surgery thread

Apparently wound and ostomy care are combined as technically an ostomy is an open wound according to a nurse friend.

I know it sounds silly, but have you tried diaper cream? Zinc is needed for healing wounds, as he is still recovering from surgery he might not be absorbing as much as his body needs, so maybe some topical zinc may help. My kids call diaper cream "magic cream" My husband has granulomas...

    Feeling frustrated

Well, tried sending number 2 off to preschool. In the last month these are the reasons she has been sent home. 1) diahrea no fever or othe symtoms - this I understand, but it was her normal diahrea, obeyed the 24 hrs begore return yo class rule 2) constipation, her grunting and crying and being...

    C's surgery thread

I read the comment about his back, my husband did the exact same thing. It might be worth getting one of those wooden massagers you can get. We have one that is like a wooden 3 legged spider and he or I were able to loosen things up in his back. A heating pad on his back may help too

    C's surgery thread

He's probably making up for lost time! My husband had his duodenal ostomy reversed 6 weeks ago and he's always eating now. I've never seen him eat so much! With a teenager it must be 100 times worse! His body is healing and needs all the energy it can get. I agree with Mehita, as long as...

They used emla when my 3 yr old had a general anesthetic a few months ago, it worked, but she had horrific blusters from it. When i taught kindergarden the local nurses came to do shots, we put Vaseline on told them it was special cream that made it not hurt, they gave the shot near the...

Going completely dairy free and breastfeeding us completely manageable. We worked with a dietician, and it worked out well, my eldest was dairy free until age 4 when she outgrew her allergy. She breastfed until 16 months. We have a great pediatric allergist/immunologist. She told me it takes 2...

    C's surgery thread

My husband was only allowed gum for a few days, they wouldn't give fluids until he had passed gas, or had a bm, for resection in vancouver it's the standard recovery programme for any GI surgery. Something to do with the chewing awakening your body's natural responses, but without taxing them...

    Unsolicited Advice

My 3 yr old isn't diagnosed with crohns but with a whole host of issues no one has an answer for. The best we've had so far, from a rheumy, about my anemic, not growing, hoarse, constipated, rashy girl, it's just growing pains, tylenol at night, the rest is just coincidence. Ummm okaaayyyy

    Feeling frustrated

Poppers mum I know how you feel. We got told she's anemic and not growing because she won't eat, would you eat if you were constipated and had a sore throat. I'm peed off that the fellow was adamant the the IBD team needed to have a look at her then when the senior doc walked in and said growing...
