    Dating at 40 with Crohns

I've been married for nearly 20 years to my wonderful and understanding wife. She's been there with me through the best and worst of the disease. There's times I feel I wouldn't have made it this far if it hadn't been for her. She's had to make sacrifices, but she understood what she was getting...

    VSL#3 probiotic. Opinions

Probably unrelated, as VSL-3 is just a supplement. If you're seeing more blood, contact your GI ASAP.

12 weeks from starting Humira and still got symptoms

When you started, did they give you a "loading dose"? I want to say I was given three or four shots in the beginning, then one weekly, then one every other week. It took about two or three months before I really started to see a difference and feel better. I'd give it a little more time, then...

    Diarrhea question

When I was at my worst, taking Imodium or even Lomotil wouldn't even slow it down. It's best to try to get at treating the root cause instead of just treating symptoms. I'd recommend talking to your GI. If you don't have one, your family doctor needs to refer you to one.

    Organising a holiday and Crohn's

I would also recommend trying to find a place that has a small kitchen so you can prepare your own meals. If that doesn't work and it's only for a few days, pack some non-perishable "safe" foods that you know you won't regret eating a few minutes afterward.

    VSL#3 probiotic. Opinions

I tried it several years ago when (I think) it was being made by a different manufacturer. I took it for about five months and I couldn't tell that it did anything for me. Your mileage may vary, though.

    Covid vaccine booster

You should be much more worried about what those "vaccines" may be doing to your system versus any virus. The best protection against Covid, or any other contagious disease, is natural antibodies.

    Can't take prednisone!

Corticosteroids are never meant to be a long term solution. So many doctors mis-prescribe steroids to people with Crohn's. It's supposed to be short term (3 months or less) to try to break you out of a flare. But, many leave their patients on it for longer than the recommended timeframe. I know...

    Psoriasis

It's common in people who have Crohn's. I've had psoriasis for years. Mostly on the scalp, sides of my face, elbows, and knees, but when I would have flares, I'd have patches pop up in various other places. On Humira, I've noticed that it's now mainly sticking to my scalp. My GP gave me a...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

That "little needle poke" has had catastrophic effects on many people. As of 23 August in the VAERS database maintained by the U.S. Government, there are 514,270 adverse reaction reports to the COVID vaccine and 5,118 documented deaths. These are only the instances that have been documented...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

Even the hospitalization numbers can be misleading because they are taken out of context. The friend I mentioned earlier who works in a hospital told me two days ago the medics brought in a 93 year old lady who was experiencing complications related to congestive heart failure. She was admitted...

Denied coverage for Remicade Aug. 2021

I agree on the appeal. Oftentimes, the first bean counter that a claim lands in front of sees the number and has sticker shock. I had to do this with one of my endoscopies a few years back.

    Rectal bleeding

I would hold off on the fiber as well until you see a new GI (or multiple new GIs). Cutting down meat, especially red meat and any processed meats, is not a bad idea but you will still need some protein. You can get some protein from nuts if you are able to eat them, but be sure they have been...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

As an engineer, I can say based on my 22 years' experience in the field that ANY product, I don't care if it's an engine, radio, computer, pharmaceutical, or whatever, that is rushed through development and testing is going to have problems. Some problems are minor, some are major and many take...

That was smart not to wait. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's going on soon.

    Feeling a bit let down...

Glad to hear the numbers are looking better! I was hoping it was only an outlier. Hopefully the scope goes well and you'll be declared in remission. It's a wonderful feeling, let me tell you!

    Rectal bleeding

Agree - if you are passing blood go to someone else. It could just be a severe case of proctitis, but you need to get it checked. Could be a fissure or something else that could get infected very easily. Some of these doctors, I have no idea how they completed medical school....

    Feeling a bit let down...

If you aren't having any other symptoms, it could just be an outlier. It's been about 2 months - did you get it re-checked? I'm an engineer as well. While it's good to track data trends, sometimes you can over-analyze and drive yourself crazy, especially when it comes to your health. I have an...

Stelara reducing in efficacy or just flare?

Has he been on the vancomycin and other antibiotics for the whole 8 months? If so, he may have developed an intolerance to them. Most antibiotics are meant to be short-term solutions. When I was a teenager and first having symptoms, before Crohn's was even a well known phenomenon and they...

    Son recently diagnosed with IBD

As someone who was first treated with steroids and was on them way too long, I can sympathize. My original GI was going to leave me on steroids permanently, but my GP felt it was a bad idea and weaned me off of them. While the steroids did their job and kept me in remission for several months...
