Travel Insurance (Any Canadians with experience?)

Hi, Just wondering if any Canadians with CD have any experience with getting travel insurance? This will be my first time going on a major trip since my diagnosis. Do people with CD have more difficulty getting travel insurance coverage? Are there certain companies that you would or would not...

Flaring back up agian with imuran?

Well let's hope that imuran kicks in for you! He didn't offer any other options other than remicade? Glad to hear though that you are feeling a bit better!

Flaring back up agian with imuran?

Ah I see. 3 pills was also what I was initially put on. I'm not sure if entocort works as well for everyone. Yes, it's a steroid like prednisone, but the difference is that prednisone is systemic (works in a non-targeted way) while entocort is supposed to only be released and work once it gets...

Flaring back up agian with imuran?

hmmm. That's also what I did - first on prednisone and imuran then tapered off prednisone and replaced with entocort. How much entocort are you on? Have you been on entocort before and has it worked for you?

    Next stop Methotrexate :(

I'm on Methotrexate (MTX). While going through this forum in the past, I've found that many people here seem to want to avoid MTX. Could someone fill me in on what's driving these feelings? I'm not saying that MTX is good or bad... so far it's been working for me (I take the oral form of it)...

Flaring back up agian with imuran?

Are you on only imuran? When my GI put me on imuran, he also put me on prednisone at the same time, so that I'd have something that would potentially be working for me while the imuran took it's time to kick in. Afterwards, eventually I was taken off the pred and left on imuran. As for your...

Not exactly crohns but related and extremely rare condition

michael, so sorry to hear about your frustrations with doctors and not being able to get a proper answer about your health! As a medical student, it really bothers me to hear that certain doctors aren't seeming to be to compassionate/caring etc.... I really wish it were the case that every...

Greetings everyone! I'd like to share my story

Hey Cally, Did your GI have Crohn's while going thru medical school too??? I experienced the same thing about the orientation social activities here too. They are a bit crazy, but I kind of knew that drinking would be a big thing for some people since I heard about it from some of my friends...

My story - hoping for the best

Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement! I know it's been a while since I last wrote. In that time it's been a bit crazy with finishing up my summer job, packing and finally moving. Just finishing up my first week of classes. It's a bit overwhelming, but at the same time, since I don't...

My story - hoping for the best

Thanks Kelly and DustyKat, I don't know how often I'll be able to visit the forum once school starts up, but it's really nice to know that there is a whole community of people who have experienced similar things as me. I don't know of anybody who has Crohn's and sometimes it's hard for my...

My story - hoping for the best

Hi, I'm pretty new to this forum, found it from a google search. I wasn't even looking for a forum because I never even would have imagined that something like this existed. My experience with Crohn's began around Sept of 2008, just as my 4th (final) year of undergrad was starting. I thought...

Greetings everyone! I'd like to share my story

Hi Cally, I'm actually going to be a first year med student too and I was wondering if there were others with Crohn's who are studying or studied medicine. I guess we'll just have to make a decision about alcohol and stick to it, even if it might be hard, but not all students decide to...
