Rash from sun while on azathioprine

Thanks for that. It just seemed odd as I had never had it before, looks like I will have to stay indoors for a little bit. Does anyone know of anything that can sooth it? I am guessing something like camomile lotion maybe?

Rash from sun while on azathioprine

Hiya, I just wondered if anyone has noticed any reaction on their skin in the sun since being on azathioprine. I used to get prickly heat when I went abroad but this reaction is different. It is more like raised bumps or blisters all down my arms and hands. It looks similar to this -...

    Just started Imuran :)

I am hoping to start this soon (well when they get my blood tests back and give me the all clear). Reading this is all really promising! I was starting to feel a bit down after going back on to steroids today but maybe there is some hope:)

Help needed - flare up or anemia

Hiya, I have seen my consultant today and she has put me on Budesonide (I had bad reactions to pred) for 3 months. In the meantime she wants me to have a blood test to go on Azathioprine. She said something about testing enzymes but not really sure what she was on about. I am hoping these...

Help needed - flare up or anemia

Just got back from the doctors. She said she thinks I need to go on immune system suppressants and B12 but that it's not in her remit to prescribe them so I should speak to my consultant about that. She did give me iron and folic acid tablets and some buscopan for the cramps and some sudacream...

Help needed - flare up or anemia

Hi All, I am just after a bit of advice. I was diagnosed Dec 2011 and became very steroid dependent so the consultant decided it was best for me to have my TI out. I had the operation in June and have been steadily recovering but things never actually got completely better. I am having some...

Last eight months have been rough but ready to smash life again!

Thanks for sharing this, it was really inspiring. I go in next weds for a very similar op. They plan to remove about 20cms and give me the ileostomy to help me recover. I am kind of getting my head round it now and reading stories like yours really do help :)

    Anxious after pre op

@Terriernut Thanks :) It was a huge shock but it is finally sinking in I think and the forum is helping a lot actually. The plan is a temporary stoma but she did say that sometimes reversal isn't possible but that it's rare not to be able to do it. The nurse is coming over next Tuesday to mark...

    Anxious after pre op

Hiya, I had my pre op today for the resection I am having next week. When I saw the surgeon a few weeks ago he was a big vague with what they needed to do and said they would need to put an action plan together and look for a good window to do the surgery as I was on a high dose of steroids. I...

    Surgery and reduction in steroids

@cecilialynn I really hope that it all works out for you, I think finding the right balance of meds if half the battle. I went to see my doctor today and they have given me more medicines, I'm not sure if the names will be the same over there but they have told me to carry on reducing on the...

    Prednisone pre-surgery- safety?

I was told something similar, the surgeon said to me that they needed to find a good window of opportunity when I had reduced enough on the steroids to operate. He said that being on a high dose of steroids could make things more complicated and result in a leakage post surgery.

    Surgery and reduction in steroids

Thanks for the replies :) @Grant - I hope that you are feeling a little better now after surgery not too long ago. I am anemic too so I've got some Iron tablets to take on top of everything else. I am trying to to get my hopes up too much that this will be a magic fix but I really hope it is. I...
