I've tried to remove cheese from my diet once and had an increase of symptoms so before finding this study I already knew cheese helped me, but here is some science to back up my own observations, CHEESE HELPS!!

I don't drink milk but I have eaten cheese since being diagnosed 7 yrs ago and reading breaking the vicious cycle which advises removing lactose from your diet to help decrease IBD symptoms.

As if I needed an excuse to eat cheese! :p Yum! I am lactose intolerant though so I mainly eat goat cheese, and tend to avoid cow dairy (although I can and do have it in small amounts, like a piece of string cheese is usually okay). I wonder if goat cheese has the same benefits or if it has to be cow?

It's all fermented milk with varying degrees of lactose, some cheese has more some much less some has almost no lactose at all. For the most part all cheese is lower in lactose then milk as far as I know.
