Hi everyone! I am a Mom of an 8 yr old boy. He has many things going on but nothing too "severe". We do not have Crhons but what is interesting...after a series of tests, food eliminations, BM analysis, blood work....(2 yrs old testing) my son is allergic to dairy (this was confirmed with blood work and BM analysis. The reason I bring this up is that the Doc told us if we do not remove all dairy (even as an ingredient in foods), he may end up with Crohn's (IBD) disorder. He does have chronic constipation, holding and encopresis (the reason we brought him in for this). So, we don't eat dairy and when he does he soils (a little bit of loose stools..no stomach pains). Anyway, I did not know if any of you have any knowledge about food allergies/sensitivities associated with Crohn's. I do know that our nutrition plays a big roll in everything but it is very hard to regulate, given all of the additives, preservatives, etc... I wish you all well, I have a good friend who has Crohns and struggles a bit and then other days she is fantastic. I think she inspires me to find help for my son now, so maybe he won't have to deal with this later (hard to know). Many blessings to you all. :ywow:

Hi there and welcome to the forum :) I'm sorry your son has been going through so much :(

What's I'd suggest is asking your doctor for this amazing research he is privy to about the cause of Crohn's Disease that none of us have heard about.

Now, getting your son off all of dairy may likely be a very good idea. But there is no conclusive evidence that it will lead to Crohn's Disease and I find it weird that your doctor stated something to the contrary.

Welcome to the forum!

As David said it seems very strange for a doctor to suggest that dairy will lead to Crohn's Disease. I really do wonder they came up with that information.

Yes additives and preservatives are hard to avoid, but it becomes a bit easier if you focus on fresh (or frozen) whole foods as opposed to ready made dinners and processed foods. It obviously takes more time and effort to cook, but it will usually result in food that is much more nutritionally superior and free of the many types of chemicals and other additives added to processed food. Organic whole food would be the best choice if it is available.
