In my humble opinion I have not found a literary jewel that sums up the pain, isolation, and sense of starvation that I feel from my disease better than "A Hunger Artist."
I have always loved this Franz Kafka short story. I identify with the author's life of diseased misery. His eloquent sadness breathes through his words and suffocates my heart. I endeavor in my own state of disease to create a work that is even a tenth the elegance of any of his own.
