What it's like?

I have fistula and i have two pimple-like swelling, another in my butt cheek, still in my bum crack and another in another side, near my vagina. They are sore, and thjey look like pimples or like ingrowing hair. It's about sice of my fingertip. Is this abscess?

Hi Jimena,

Sounds like it could be. It's obviously bothering you, so why not go and get it checked out by your Doctor? The sooner it's treated the better.

Wishing you well.

Mark

Hi Jimena

I agree with Mark, it sounds like an abscess and you should get it checked out. Do you have any signs/symptoms of infection (chills, fever, lack of appetite)?

When I was getting fistulas/abscesses, I would usually take antibiotics for 14 days. The pain made things uncomfortable, and I would use a very hot compress or take a very hot bath. I used to hot compress a few times a day, each time for about 10 minutes. Hot compressing would allow the abscess to burst and the gunk to come out. Once the abscess burst, I would feel quite a bit of relief.

I hope you feel better soon,

Kismet

how did you get rid of yours?

when i get an abcess its always up bum and on the right of rectum, gives plenty of pain down the leg. I always put up with it and it does go eventually. but of course anyone else with these has my sympathy

i once had a nasty blood blister on my anus and this was pea size but the pain, well i couldn't get to the doctor till it had practically gone. it wasn't piles, but can't remember what he called it. he said to go back and get it spliced (cut) by him next time. i'll never forget how painful that was, worse than abcess really

good luck for appointment on thursday, Jimena

Hey,

I had an abcess within the loops of my intestines. Nothing that I could see but I had extreme pain and fever. I would have it checked. An abcess can become very dangerous if it ruptures.

Thanks again guys!

I don't have massive pain in there, but when i touch the "pimple" it's sore. Tomorrow is meeting with surgeon so he can check if that's need something. I have Metronidatzol antibiotics on, but it woun't help.

I'm nervous. Funny, but most of all i'm scared if the surgeon doesn't do anything! If he says that let's see and describes more antibiotics. I am going to tell him that i have so much pain after BM, that i really cant stand it much longer. Something needs to be done.

Spooky1, thank you :ghug:

i'll let you know how it went.

I believe I have an abscess.......except mine is huge. It's probably like 2" long and pretty tall now. It usually doesn't bother me, as I've had it for a few years now (long story) but lately I've been having unbearable pain. I take baths sometimes 5x a day for 20 mins. Try to fit that in with going to school all day. It's not fun. It's hard to walk, I have to stand on the bus because of the bumps in the road, etc. I have an appointment with a new doctor in 2 weeks finally, but I really don't know if I can wait that long. I think mine may be past the point for medication but I'm really scared for what the surgery could involve. Has anyone had it?

Where is it located? It needs to be drained. Don't be scared I e had 5 abscesses drained this year. You will feel like a million bucks as soon as it drains and I mean instantly.

I had a tennis ball sized abscess in my armpit drained 2 weeks ago. It's still not a 100%. I was giggling hysterically when it burst and oozed pus for about ten minutes and at least a cup of goo came out. I couldn't contain my enthusiasm and simulataneous disgust and awe.

Also had a large abcess near anus, it was surgically removed. Felt great to get rid of the enormous pain it caused.

Check out my "lots of puss/blood" thread if you want to see some pictures of my abscess so you can get an idea of what it might look like

Well, I get those quite a bit . The small ones.. and they are much the same as an abscess. They are more like boils. Caused by inflammation/bacteria the same way as an abscess. I put very warm washcloths on mine and hold it there a few minutes. They always run their coarse and then slowly go away. I seem to get two or three at a time, kind of a "flare" of them. You should go see your doctor right away if it continues to worsen. I got a REAL Abscess last week for the first time. Its quite painful and made me pretty sick. Awful.. The sitz bath has worked really well for it so far. Bree

Jimena, have a look at my "lots of puss/blood" thread and I have a detailed description of what I am going through, as well as some pics of what mine looks like.
