My 16 yr old son has been fighting an acne issue for two years. He has seen some improvement since switching to solodyn antibiotic. Our derm guy wants to try Accutane and had gotten our GI doctors approval. He is currently taking Azathioprine and has no symptoms/flares in 3 years. Has anyone tried Accutane and had their Crohn's get worse? Not sure I want to risk it if we are starting to some(small improvement) already.

As someone who has taken Accutane in the past, I humbly suggest not taking it. It is extremely hard on your body, and adverse reactions are not rare. Further still, it did not get rid of my acne. My Father believes taking Accutane predisposed me to Crohn's.

Idk if it's related but my crohn's got much worse after taking accutane and I started getting depression with it that never really went away.

My daughter was on aza and accutane in combination. She had cystic acne that didn't respond to any other therapy. The GI and derm agreed it would be okay and she was put on 1/3 of the suggested dose and therapy time was three times as long.
