Hi my lovelies...
Well I've had Crohns for over 12 years now but untill the beginning of this year I have only ever had minor probs..mostly perianal fistulars..which while pretty dam painful never really got to me..but I have now had this bad flare since january..I've been on Asacol for the last 11 years..but had to go on a course of steroids which whilst dampening the problems never really sorted them out..they also sent me a bit over the edge. ! After seeing my consultant yesterday I'm now on the highest dose of Asacol 6 x 800g a day but if that doesn't work it looks like immunosuppressants..can anyone give me some info on what the latest best drug is in this group..and also who else feels like they have a flu ache all the time..cos it's really bugging me..
Much love my fellow Crohnies...B xx  xx

Hi and welcome.

I don't know the best drug in the class; I'm on imuran. I had no issues with it but needed to add Remicadeto the mix. The combination is working well.

your GI will maybe suggest Remicade which is known to help for fistulas in particular. but you can also try Imuran or Purinethol before. purinethol and Imuran are also very often put in combo with Remicade as mentioned previously.

Been on Humira around 5 months. Helped some. Also on pentasa. Going to my GI next month to change my meds. Never had trouble with the Humira injections, just dont work as good as I need it to. Still in a 7 month flare, fistula surgery, now the crohn's has moved into my spine. Its not worth all the side effects and I still have all these problems.
