Acupuncture?

Not acupuncture but I find acupressure helpful sometimes for pain relief. It's hard though knowing the exact spots to massage or pinpoint.

Personally, I'm always shocked that acupuncture is still around. Clinical study after clinical study has repeatedly shown it as nothing more than a theatrical placebo. Patients given fake acupuncture responded just as well as those given actual acupuncture, showing the effect isn't some secret medical technique, but placebo...

Placebos certainly have value in the medical community. I mean, if something relieves pain, does it matter if it's real or not? What kills me though is the vast sums of money charged by acupuncturists and homeopaths to sell snake oil to desperate people. Their continued existence exposes our society's ignorance of the scientific method and how many people will greedily expose that ignorance.

Does anyone know of specific studies on acupuncture effectiveness? I'd be curious to take a look into this.
