Adenovirus

So DS tested positive for the adenovirus
Docs are discussing what to do on his meds
Including Humira and Mtx

Anyone every have this ?

Not here mlp. We have never had the need to be tested for it.

I hope this doesn’t make his treatment plan harder. :ghug:

Had to look it up, not that I'm aware of or at least have never been tested.

The scary part is it was tested by accident
Gi wanted a flu blood panel
The lab decided a nasal swab was what GI really wanted so they tested for a ton things on the nasal swab including adenovirus.
Now we get to hold Humira and hope the virus goes away before his crohns/arthritis start to flare.

Adenovirus basically is a cold with the stomach flu in some cases
For DS its been three months of stomach flu after he had a bad cold for three days

Can he keep taking MTX?

Right now theory is the small dose of Mtx "should be ok" since it's the tnf alpha blocker that has cases studies on making it worse .

But they may change their minds by Friday
Both Rheumo and GI are doing lots of research on this one

That is interesting. We've had a cold/stomach flu going around here and Jaedyn started having symptoms last night... 3 months of stomach flu? Your poor boy! Jaedyn is on 6MP. I hope she has an uneventful case. I hope your boy gets over it soon!
