Hello, my name is Kayleigh. I'm 22 years old. I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's in July of this year (2011) not long before my wedding day! :ywow: It started of with a case of C-Diff that I contracted through a dose of antibiotics. Doctors kept telling me my stomach was just unsettled and it would soon die down. Weeks past and I was still no better. After LOTS of persuasion the doctors finally tested a stool sample. I was then sent for a colonoscopy and I could tell straight away my bowel was not right. I was put on Pentasa which never really helped and then put on a course of steriods (prednisolone) 2 weeks ago. Symptoms persisted and last week I ended up in hospital. First time i've ever been in hospital! Got sent home with Budesonide, Adcal and Azathioprine tablets. Oh the Joys!!

Your truly

A very tired kayleigh

Hello Kayleigh and welcome to the forum...:)
Sorry to hear about your hospital stay...
How has your condition been since getting home?
Take care..

Thanks. :) Since this is all new to me (My Aunty suffers from Crohn's to but has completly different symptoms to me) I thought it would be a good idea to read more advice and other peoples story. I'm so glad to be home. Symptoms haven't settled yet but i'm sure it will take a wee while for the new meds to get into my system.

Hi Kayleigh and welcome. Awwww, you poor thing, I'm sorry you've been having so much trouble but I'm glad you're at least out of the hospital.

There's a LOT of very valuable information on this forum. You may want to check out our diet and fitness section to start.

Have they said where in your intestines the Crohn's is location?

All my best to you :)

Hello Kayleigh. :) Welcome! I'm really sorry about your diagnosis last July. Did you get to have a beautiful wedding day, anyway? I'd love to hear about it. I really hope the meds kick in soon. Take care of yourself in the meantime.

I've been on this all afternoon reading peoples stories! I have Ileocolitis
I would strongly suggest having your vitamin B12 levels checked then. Deficiency is very common in people with Crohn's Disease, especially if you have active inflammation in the terminal ileum.
