Is it safe for me to take allergy medication while I'm on prednisone and Imuran? I'll ask my dr but I won't be able to call the office til monday and at the moment I'm dying from allergies. Thanks

I'm not a doctor (I've been saying that a lot lately), but I don't think there's any issue with Imuran. I've never heard that there is, but my daughter has never really used allergy meds either.

I'm pretty sure there's no issue with prednisone. I've taken allergy meds and prednisone lots.

For Imuran, I recommend looking up the active ingredient(s) on the meds you're considering and then googling "+azathioprine +[active ingredient] +[active ingredient] +interaction" and see what comes up. This might result in some dry reading but I've found it fairly reliable.

If you're not up for that or it makes you nervous, you can call and ask your pharmacist or better yet go down there and ask him in person, allergy meds in hand.

You can check for drug interactions here http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1936-0,896-1617,296-139 I did a quick check and it didn't have any interactions. I've taken benadryl with Prednisone and 6MP before and never had a problem.
