Almond Milk?

I have and it's a delicious dairy free alternative. I don't see it as having an impact on IBD unless your aggravated by dairy and replace it with almond milk.

Great, thanks! I bought some for the first time today and want to try it in my evening tea along with honey. I'm excited to try it...not a huge cow's milk fan (not intolerant, just don't like the taste/aftertaste).

I drink it, I like it, I don't relate it to any problems with my intestines, but perhaps I'm just not paying attention if it is one of the reasons for the opius amounts of flatulence I have.:(

I switched to almond milk years ago before my Crohn's diagnosis. I have been lactose intolerant for 17 years and tried all kinds of substitutes. Almond milk works best for me and so glad I can get calcium from some food source. Being on a low fiber diet really cuts out all those calcium rich foods.

Try making your own almond milk, it tastes so much better. I can't drink the store bought stuff because of the additives and thickeners in it. Plus, anyone with digestive diseases should avoid excessive sugar amounts, which most non dairy milks have lots of. You can get unsweetened, but still have additives.

Limit sugar, wheat and dairy. Yogurt is fine since it's a fermented food and has good probiotics. I notice a huge difference when I avoid those foods.

I mostly take some almond milk with me when we go to visit my inlaws. You can find some that's not cold and will stay good until it's opened without putting it in the fridge. Other than that, I really don't drink it much. Taste is a little strong for me.

My partner and I have being trying different dietary changes to see if there are any health changes by diet. We have a juicer which is used almost daily- not the centrifugal whizzy type, but the one with a large central screw pushing juice through mesh. She decided to make me almond milk this morning as I'd used commercial stuff for the last few weeks. Soaked almonds overnight, ground them, strained it and viola! Million times tastier- not a great deal of work involved and less than half the price of those shelf packs. So sweet, and the flavour is unreal. I'm sold.

Dackelmann, I do similar but just in a blender then use a mesh bag to strain. I do the same with coconut milk or a mixture of the two. So much better than store bought. Although, I really want a juicer :) I was looking at the omega, can't remember the exact model (2000 something I think) does nut butters as well as many other things. Can I ask what you're using.

Sylvie A , just looked now- (Coway?) Juicepresso. My partner researches everything she buys to the umpteenth degree before making purchases. This thing is a robust, easy to clean little unit. She even uses the left over almond meal to put with her with her quark and fruit for breakfast- nothing wasted.
Cheers DM.

Only thing is that you cant heat it up. It will burn. And it is going to taste like burnt almonds. lol
