Trying out some new things these days.... one of them is aloe vera juice ... im feeling nuch better.... but could be a no. of different things...... anyone had any experiences with aloe vera juice.....?? googling it seems to give a 50 50 split between if you have crohns this is a must have dietary supplement to if you have crohns you absolutely must not take this as it will probably kill you and your family and all the people you have talked to in the last 24 hours..... ok slight ott but you get the general idea........ im sure this has come up as a topic before so sorry if im repeating old stuff... pretty new on here.....

I was told to take it last year... I never did, but thats because I read that its a great natural laxative (and I didn't want MORE diarhhea) also, since it makes the tummy feel so much better, it was said to have an addictive effect to it... which I heard it wasn't good to consume in large amounts

I heard that too ... admittedly not until after i had started taking it.... but it seems to have not had a laxative effect on me.....and i would be pretty sensitive to things with that effect such as mint... chewing gum and coffee.... i dont understand how it can have a laxative effect on one person and the opposite effect on the next.... i know every one is different but still.....

Well, I've heard that it depends on whether they extract the aloe from the root or from the leaves/fronds of the plant. If it's from the root, it doesn't cause a problem... but the aloe in the leaves or fronds can have a very stong laxative effect... Course, if one is impacted or constipated, that can be very beneficial..

Cause, with fronds like that, who needs enemas

(I apologize, I couldn't resist.. we now return to regularly scheduled programs)

I think that you ought to know, I'm a member of the under-cover branch of the Serious Pun-Related Crimes Unit (internet division).

It's lucky for you that I'm off duty right now.

I take aloe in pill form. Not sure 100%, but I think it helps to an extent. I think in the long run it will be beneficial.

I'm sitting right in front of a rather large aloe plant right now... Think anyone would notice if it started developing tooth marks?

Aloe has great healing properties...for the skin. Me, I think it is worth a try.....the latex part of the plant is the diarrhea producing factor --- supposedly the filets when processed correctly do not contain laxative properties. I say it's worth a try --- some people in this forum appear to be having great luck with it. It is also nutritious. Some of the juice drinks in the health food stores are delicious - I like the ones with aloe pulp bits. I would not advise drinking more than one a day because you don't want to overexpose your bowel to any residual laxative properties. And those with D might want to start with a little at first just to be sure. I drank it one per day for weeks and had no issues but I don't suffer from D with my Crohns. I am a CCC (chubby constipated crohn) ha.

I have been asking people on this forum to have aloe and Bottle gourd ever since am on forum..lol...thus feels better to find someone else talking about Alope vera...lol.

People with crihns who also have acidity and reflux problems MUST take aloe vera...and ofcourse people without crohns can take it too. It not only helps in acidity but also has a great effect on your skin. On the laxative part. I guess that depends on the individual..so far i have persuaded atleast 20 people among mu friends and family to have it, and non have so far complained about the laxative effects of it...I would say..U must try it..if it doesnt suit you...stop using it.

@smellybum : No one dies of Aloe vera juice (as the reviews you read were saying). so just go ahead and try it...take not more than 15 ml with same amount of water twice daily..preferabvly in empty stomach.
