I've been filling out the paperwork and getting everything set up for my health insurance in preparation to begin treatment with Remicade.
In the meantime, I've been doing some research and the more I learn, the less appealing this solution seems to me. I was in a bad state a few weeks ago, but after 2 weeks of prednisone, I am beginning to taper off and I have felt awesome for the past week and a half.. I literally haven't had a SINGLE belly ache:ylol2:
here's hoping that as the steriod levels drop, the pain won't come back, but I am confident at least that I wont be as miserable as i was before.

so NOW i'm trying to figure out what I can do instead of Remicade. My doctor has provided me with the option to participate in some tests experimenting with Remicade alternatives, however, I am not too keen on taking experimental drugs.

Is there anybody that uses any non-medicinal forms of maintenance therapy?
I tried homeopathy for a while, but it was a bit excessively pricey and though it was effective, the effects took a long time.

I will do just about anything if it means I dont have to put potentially harmful medicines into my system.

Have you looked into Low Dose Naltrexone? It is not an alternative treatment, but it is not as well documented as other treatments.

I use LDN as my main treatment. I also use Miracle Mineral Supplement occasionally to kill acidic bacteria in my intestinal tract and body. This definitely is alternative and is not approved to treat anything. But it also works for many conditions, if you follow the growing base of consumer reports.

My third treatment, I just started using involves using specific frequencies to target H-Pylori and more importantly, Mycobacterium Avium subspecies Paratuberculosis (MAP) bacteria. This is commonly known as Rife frequency treatments and is generally considered a quack treatment. Since it does work for at least a few conditions, it is worth investigation. My wife uses it for a Lyme Disease treatment, and it is one of the more effective treatments she has used. I already have eliminated H-Pylori in my stomach using this method a couple of years ago. I had no reliable information on a specific frequency that could damage the MAP bacteria at that time.

Now I have been experimenting with specific frequencies that are mathematically calculated to damage the DNA of specific bacteria. This is a patented method that is arrived at based on the genetic sequencing of the specific bacteria and is very much experimental. It appears to have been successful with certain pathogens, but the reports are anecdotal in nature.

It is difficult for me to assess the effectiveness since I am not symptomatic at this time, but for the curious, this method exists and it remains to be seen if it works for these bacteria or not.

My wife is now also using this particular method for her Lyme Disease. I will be able to assess effectiveness much easier in her case since the disease symptoms are very obvious.

How is that for alternative!

wow! thanks a lot!
that sounds intriguing, i'm definitely going to investigate further.

Do you experience any side effects from the Low Dose Naltrexone? Or either of your other treatments?
I've heard of people using the Miracle Mineral supplement for crohn's before so I think I'll get myself some for the time being. It couldn't hurt to get some nutrients in me, at least

I have had no side effects from any of the experiemntal treatments so far.

That does not mean they have been thoroughly tested for safety and there are probably risks as their is with most any treatments.

The only one I am completely comfortable with is LDN. I had some vivid dreams at first, but they went away after a while.

Do not let the name Miracle Mineral Supplement give you the impression it is a vitamin of some sort. It is actually the chemical Chlorine Dioxide which is a disinfectant used for water treatment among other things. It is not approved for treating anyhting and it has no safety trials behind it to prove it is safe and effective for humans to use in this manner.

When using these type of treatments you taking a risk that some unforseen side effect could occur. Many have used this without any known side effects but that does not mean it is risk free. Pleae research this carefully before using it. You have to be able to be comfortable with the possible risks and if you are not, then do not use it.

The Rife frequency treatments have been used since the 1930's and have a much longer track record. While no double blind studies have ever been done as far as safety and effectiveness, the chance of some side effect is minimal as thousands have used this method without any serious side effects. It also does not work for many bacteria, but does work for some. It is a very dependant on knowing specifically what bacteria you are targeting and a very precise frequency to damage it. Some bacteria are physically weak and are easily destroyed. Others are quite resistant to destruction by resonance.

Always do careful research when using experimental treatments. The user needs to be aware of all aspects of the treatment to make an intelligent decision.

I practice martial arts and have found that with practice you can help your body to reduce pain and the likes. Breathing can help with pain if you learn more about it.

I take martial arts from a gentleman who is from Japan and only takes on 7 or 8 students per year. It is very in depth and not what you would think of when mentioning martial arts. We practice Ken-jutsu, Iado, bu-jutsu, shiatsu, etc.

Something along the lines of relaxation and mediation can help a lot.

Hi there is a treatment that could really help you. I have colitis, and it works for me, though they say its effects are much better with people w/ crohns-
So here it goes: Helminth Therapy- there are no side effects and they say its effective in 70% of people with crohns. Check the OVAMED site in Germany-
They speak English over there, quite well. Speak with Dr Detlev or Morsal.
The actual treatment is based on studies done by Dr Weinstock at the university of Iowa, i believe. anyway its worth a shot. The only downside is
that its quite expensive : ( about 300 euros per bottle. But Its a alot better
than drugs, and there are NO negative side effects. I've been taking it for nearly a year, and I've been flare-up free for at least 6 months and I'm not on any meds. Which is a first, because in the last 4 years that i've had the disease, it was constant flare-up for me.
The actual helminths are not visible in your stool, and when you drink the stuff, its like drinking water. You hardly know anything is living in there.
Tastes like salt water. Give it a shot, it may work for you. Alot of people around here poo poo it, but the truth is none of them have probably tried it.
I live in Spain, so its easier for me to get a hold of the stuff, but I do believe they can send overseas, and if not perhaps they can direct you to a place in the states. Good luck

thanks for all your input, guys!
I recently registered for yoga class, so I'm hoping to benefit from the relaxation/meditation factor.

Looks like i've got lots of researching to do, yay!
