Do we know of anyone having anti-MAP therapy at the same time as a biologic or immunomodulator? (Infliximab, Adalimumab or Azathioprine)?
I remember something that Dr. Borody mentioned in one of his interviews was that it would be interesting to see the results if this was the case. Since biologics and Azathioprine trigger [wiki2="Apoptosis"]apoptosis[/wiki2] (self destruction) of macrophages where the MAP is hiding, it would seem logical that it would make the antibiotics more effective and faster to induce a response.
Although an increased chance of liver toxicity would be a concern.
