Hi all, I just posted my story in the story forum, but the short is I may have a recurrence after a long remission and I'd like to find a good GI. My first doc (deceased) said what made a good IBD doc was seeing a LOT of it, not dabbling.

Since I'm close to Manhattan (NY not KS) there are a number of docs who are CCFA members, but I'd like to have some personal recommendations if possible.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

call NYU hospital referral service (212) 263-7300, I got my rhemy through them. sorry my gi is in brooklyn.
hehe would have never thought of any one getting confused with KS and NY when the word Manhattan comes up.

hey jell!
i go to mt sinai in manhattan for care, for a GI Dr. Asher (Arthur...he goes by 2 names or something) Kornbluth. have been seeing him for a few years now and hes a great guy.

colo-rectal surgeon wise, i have seen Dr. Randy Steinhagen, he actually did my ileostomy. again, great guy...though not an awesome bedside manner. hes a really really sweet person, but is kinda rough and even if you say OW WHAT THE EFF?! he does not become more gentle lol. but as a surgeon, he is highly HIGHLY skilled.

i would recommend both of them...dont know how long appt waits are though as a new patient, and i dont know about the insurance acceptance situations as well. stuff that could really make or break a dr as an option.

hope this helps!
